You can tell this is one of Kristin Hannah earlier works. Her writing style has not yet evolved to what is now. The story and writing were cheesy (almost to cheesy at times that it made it difficult not to cringe). It is not my favorite work of hers, but non-the-less an easy /semi enjoyable read.
I was not impressed with any of the characters and found the teenage girls angsty attitude a bit much.

I can see how some reviewers are saying this book is unrealistic, but hey! I don’t read fiction for the reality of it! Also, give me all the cheesy lines and overly sweet romance!
That being said, I really enjoyed this book. It’s the first book I read from this author and it gave me Hallmarky-Nicholas Sparks vibes. I loved the family connection and the beautiful message of second chances and miracles happening after tragedy and devastation.
One thing I didn’t really vibe with was the multiple POV (besides the two main characters), I felt like some of those passages were unnecessary but I still understand why the author thought they needed to be there. Another aspect I didn’t connect with very much was Lina’s conflict. I thought she overreacted in some occasions and felt like she was just being problematic with no reason.
I don’t know if I would catalogue this book as a Romance but I felt all the emotions and swooned with that happy ending. 4 solid stars! Looking forward to reas more of this author.

This is an author I have read before and enjoy very much. The story started off a little slow, but it did not take long to capture my attention and had a great ending. I look forward to reading more by this author in the future (I own many of her books). She writes a great romantic story that makes you feel for the characters.

Predictable and cliched, but I still enjoyed it as it did make you think about issues like forgiveness, organ donations, and second chances. I almost gave up on it but needed to find out how it ended, and the happy ending was worth it.
