This was amazing. I struggled to put it down at times. Both Athena and June were well developed and complicated characters, and they're both horrible people.

the ending bumped the rating, but the book overall was really good. pacing was off a bit though. a lot of this book due to the nature of the perspective felt a little bit showy not tell-y though, which felt awkward most times. but i genuinely did enjoy the book a lot, especially because Kuang makes you feel bad for the main character.

This is a great book, I think if you don’t think critically and with nuance you might not like it, but I loved it! Wanted some more character development but besides that almost perfect.

Thrilling plot during the first half of the book. You feel, due to the writing style, that you are on this journey with the main character. The second half of the book is a bit slower. I was asking myself, ''how will this end?''. But i suppose that is a telltale sign that despite the pacing issues, it was a pageturner.

The narrator Helen Laser brings the snark! 

This is a fast-paced novel with an unlikeable protagonist who does not take accountability for her actions. And yet I felt compassion for her. Very well written

The author did a great job showcasing the inner workings and injustices of the publishing industry.
