Anybody else get hung up by the three members of house Tully being Elmo, Kermit, and Oscar? Feel like there is a street in Riverrun commonly known as Sesame. Also just felt like it veered away from the Targaryens at points that it didn't really need to. Was kind of surprised that it ended at Aegon III up until I investigated the cover to find it's part one of two in their history. That's when the filler and extras made a bit more sense to be included. All in all, it was still an excellent account and amazing read I could not put down.

While this book gave lots of good information about the Game of Thrones world that I am glad I now have, it was truly like slogging through mud to try and read. I found it very interesting but at the same time almost impossible to sit down and consume.

I enjoyed it but oh my goodness am I excited to go back to reading a novel that’s an actual narrative!
Super engaging for what it is but I kept zoning out reading all the names and places, the world building is crazy and I’m excited to see the rest of House of Dragon

Surprisingly interesting for what is mostly a broad historical account of the Targaryen dynasty.

I wasn’t completely engrossed in it and had to put such an insane amount of mental energy into remembering who was who because the all the characters have such similar names but I think it’s important to read as a GRRM fan same as the Silmarillion if you’re a fan of Tolkien.

It was an interesting form I’ve not come across before as it was written like a historical nonfiction of a fictional world and it didn’t flow quite as nicely as a novel but I guess that was what he was going for.

Didn’t finish. Really tried, I really did. But damn was this just monotone.

I appreciated how this book took the approach of a historical text in that it considered the family history of the Targaryens in Westeros from multiple points of view. If you're a fan of House of the Dragon, this text was the source material.
