Enjoyed the cultural aspects of this book, not so much the supernatural but I also don’t know what I expected because that part was made pretty clear. Parts just felt forced and like she was trying too hard to play out the character’s idolization of Stephen King.

muuuuch more of a thriller than a horror book. it was marketed as both, though, which feels a little dishonest. on the upside, the writing style was economical and sharp, which I enjoyed, and I absolutely loved the main character. you can feel the author's love for music and for bar life coming through, and that earnestness for a jaded character is really sweet.
the plot is Just Okay but the characters really shine for me.
