My summer of lighthearted reading continues with the latest on my list of beach reads. I'd say this book was unremarkable and unmemorable. There are no glaring flaws (for a beach read), but I was just never invested. Hey, at least I cleared abother book off my bookshelf!

This is what I would call a cozy read. Nothing exciting, nothing revolutionary, mostly predictable. In a way it was almost too sweet. I appreciated the real take on grief and managing different people's grief responses. I'd recommend this to someone who just needs something easy and warm to read.

Thought this book was relaxing and cute. There are some darker topics that the characters were working through but it didn’t feel sad or depressing.

I love the occasional feel-good story . The writing style is very casual and kind of silly which took a while to get used to but it worked well for the story. It got progressively less goofy as the story went along which matched the transformation of Lillian from the beginning to the end . You’d think it would go the other way but she got more comfortable with herself and didn’t need to deflect so much sadness/ conflict / LIFE with trite humor.
