The Read-Aloud Family: Making Meaningful and Lasting Connections with Your Kids

I may check out the author’s book lists and podcast as my kids get older and I’m looking for recommendations for books to read aloud but this book was so full of filler content that it would have been better as a long article. I skimmed nearly all of it. Most interesting thing was the final chapter before the book lists with ten questions to ask your kids about the books they read.
This book has been inspiring and helpful as I try to read more with the kids I nanny, develop better connections with them, and shape their minds and hearts.
I found the chapters about how to ask compelling questions of our kids to be helpful as well as the book lists.
I need to buy a copy of this one for the book lists alone. Sarah describes many things that have worked in our family to make reading aloud a part of our home, and I picked up some new ideas, too.
I loved the ideas about creating a "book club culture" in the home, and my to-read-to-the-kids list has several additions I'm looking forward to from the book lists toward the back of the book.
Excellent book on understanding the importance of reading out loud! Great little nuggets to influence my reading time with my kids. And there are book lists! A must read for all parents!
Loved this!! So encouraging and helpful for questions to ask and books to read. She writes just as excited as she talks! Glad I hadn’t know much about her and her blog as many people say her book is a lot of repeat.
I want a copy of this book, it’s enjoyable and encouraging but I mostly want it for it’s lists. I haven’t read al the books she suggests but the ones that I have I’ve loved... or I at least want my kids to read them even if I didn’t like them because they might (hello giver and Tolkien).

This was the perfect thing to read going into Summer. It left me inspired about reading with my kids and gave practical tips for family reading and connection time...something that was already in my thoughts as we transition from the school year into Summer. I have already put some of the take aways into practice and had great results. Definitely recommend for people who either have kids or teach.
