This is a book that I will need to read more than once as it includes a lot of information about what's best for the brain: vitamins, food, sleep, water, eliminating stress with meditation and adding a decent amount of exercise everyday. She gives a overview of the brain function and then addresses how to keep it in a healthy mode. Examples of real-life stories creates a decent reinforcement.

The book is easy to understand without a lot of technical details which can be overwhelming. It's all about what is best for the brain to maintain good performance especially as one ages. For those who want to understand more, there is a section at the end which provides notes related to each chapter and also brain-related acronyms. As we age, it gets more important to follow these guidelines.

Too woo-woo for me!

Well written and easy to use to set goals to improve your brain health.

This book is less about bio hacking and more about lifestyle changes. It’s cited well and provides a good case study for making small healthier changes that add up over time. However, a more appropriate title could have been “healthy habits for the brain”.

Also, the description claims that this science-backed plan is “groundbreaking”. It is not. While this book contains good information, it is not new.

This book has a lot to offer for those new to health and wellness. I appreciated the breakdown of the brain's physiology and functions and the author's personal experiences. I skimmed the sections that I already knew (sleep and it's importance, etc) from having read other books on the topics. The NFL players recoveries were especially fascinating as well as the breakdown of the supplements, vitamins and minerals necessary for optimal brain function.
However, the author awakened my skepticism with some "facts" that were not source-cited. For instance, she makes a reference to artificial sweeteners being "bad for brain health," but doesn't provide more data. I don't consume them and it certainly is better to avoid them anyway, but there were a few statements presented that way. Another was about fluoride, yet another about unsafe tap water (which is true for many counties/cities, but not universally true).
Overall, the book is full of sound information that can benefit most of us. It's rudimentary if you are already well versed in health and wellness, but a good overall book about brain health and health in general.
Edit to add: I forgot that the author referenced the dangers of EMFs (electro-magnetic frequencies), but again without a source citation and various scientific studies have concluded that these do not pose a health risk. I am open to more science-backed conclusions, but none were provided to support her claim.

A lot of foundational information.
Not good for people who already are aware of some biohacks and nutritional brain boosting supplements.
Too much anecdotal info for me. I wanted a little bit more meaty information concerning the brain and advancements in neurocognitive research.
