I wasn't impressed. The story was extremely inconsistant...oh, I can't stand being away from my daughter! (5 weeks later) oh, I still need to get back to my daughter.... Over 100 pages in and the leading lady is still wishy washy, sleeps with Talon every chance she gets, but still can't decide if she likes him. The leading man goes from angry (all the time it seems) to awkwardly sweet to horny in the blink of an eye. I was hoping the storyline would go somewhere, but it was stuck on the couch with Cara and Katie watching their bad werewolf (or in the case of the book, vampire) movie.

This story was good. I have to say, throughout the majority of the book, I kept seeing links to Lora Leigh storylines and characters. Maybe the vampires and genetics and shifters and whatnot have been done so much that they're all starting to lump together, but there was so much that was eerily similar to the Breed books that it took my focus from the story a lot. And I do get that the Breeds weren't vampires or shifters, but the first half of the book I felt like I was reading Elizabeth's Wolf all over again, just not as good.

The writing itself was good, but nothing amazing for me. The relationship came extremely quickly, and the conflict felt forced. There were times that I wondered if an editor said, "You need to add conflict A here, then add some more of conflict B here." It seemed obvious and not completely believable. The relationship of the main characters was nice, but again, felt forced, both by the timelines and by the sex. The sex was hot, but all the scenes were fast and had little emotional depth.

All that said, however, the writing itself was pretty good, and I'm intrigued by the storylines and other characters. Clearly the author is building a series, and I'm interested in seeing how the other characters get together.

I hate Cara: like really, really hate her. So much so I'm giving up on the book and won't continue with the series.

This was a hoopla bonus borrow that has been on my tbr forever. The story and world were intriguing, but there was a little to much insta everything for me. The heroine was very inconsistent at times also. She would go from "I have to get away from you" to "I want to lick your face off" between one breath and the next. The world was an interesting one as well, so if I continue with the series, it will definitely be for the world building in future novels.

This was so bad it was kind of funny, but the rapey-ness of the book was absolutely not it.

A bit to alpha male for my liking.

Alpha male vampire finds his mate in a psychic scientist and tries to keep her and her daughter safe from the bad guys.

I’m not going to lie- I wasn’t sure about this. I liked Twilight when I read it in high school but I’m not super into fantasy (vampires werewolves, etc) normally so when I found this on a free instant download list through my library app I decided why not?! I was pleasantly surprised. The world building of the Realm was solid, the fates/prophesies made enough sense, the powers that the different beings possessed were interesting and the action, adventure and spice all delivered.

I wish the guy got killed and replaced with someone better, and I kind of despise the woman for putting up with him.
