- dark, lots of miscommunication but high rating for how much sympathy & pain I felt for Tessa - well written in that aspect.

The plot is promising and has potential but I think half of the book feels dragging to me. The way that the characters are portrayed I think could be much better written, or idk if it's part of their complexity but I think it's also influenced by that. Conflicts are so repetitive, it can be annoying at times like THIS again?
I will read the next books not anytime soon, but I'll probably still read it because I'm already intrigued by the dynamics of the mcs and the plot itself.

I’m very….intrigued. I’m not even really sure how to explain.
I’ll start off with this: The best way to explain this dynamic is that I imagine Tessa is a Sagittarius and Theon is a VIRGO male. The girlies that get it, get it- UNFORTUNATELY. They have chemistry, but goddamn they cannot communicate or understand each other enough to make the right decision for the other person. AND just add in the fact that they have DEEP trauma as individuals and are forced to be bonded. It’s essentially a recipe for disaster. But a really fun one ;)
The storyline is unique and I haven’t read anything that painted a world like this or a dynamic like this before. The beginning hooked me immediately. I couldn’t put it down.
I made sure I read the little disclaimer in the beginning that warned me I was definitely going to hate some of these characters for a while, and yeah, damn right. Even after finishing the book, I can’t decide if I like Theon or hate him lol. But the side characters were great.
As for the FMC, I actually really liked Tessa. I relate to her in a lot of ways that I wish I didn’t and in ways that I’m glad I do. I think it did get a little difficult for me to see her constantly get used & abused at every turn. I struggled a little more with that than I thought I would. I guess I was just frustrated wanting someone to just put in the effort to understand her. But I think all of this was a good arc to the complexity of her character.
Overall, I think there’s a lotttt of potential!!! I’m definitely reading book 2 and I’m excited to see where this goes
