Rain of Shadows and Endings

This is an absolute 5 star read.

I have only read a few dark fantasy, so I don’t have a ton to go on, but this book was fantastic. She had me hooked from the beginning. I was in a choke hold for all 750 pages. It was heavy and so emotional. The dynamics are complex, and gods do I want to know more. The romance is extremely hot and cold, and the tension is just woof

This world is very dark and brutal but the characters are great and I can’t wait to see where this series goes!

This was such a rollercoaster. At no point did I know where this book was going (which was great to keep me on my toes) but I felt like not much got accomplished and there was a lot of the same happening over and over which was frustrating. Overall I did enjoy it and will dive right into the next one. World building and writing style was so easy to follow and I was able to get lost in the story completely.

Oh man, this was great. Such a unique world and it felt so immersive.

I definitely struggled for a while with Tessa and Theon. There was SO MUCH miscommunication, but I kept having to remind myself that most of it is a result of their circumstances and the political systems around them.

The hints at what is to come definitely kept me going, and regardless of some repetitive chapters I found myself constantly wanting to read more. I’m really excited to continue in this series.

🌶️/5

I’m interested in the lore, but my god did I want to punch both protagonists in the mouth on more than one occasion. I’m fine with dark romance and I e joy enemies to lovers tropes, but this one dragged on so long and they went in the same circles so many times I couldn’t take it anymore. However, the ending had me intrigued, so against my better judgement, I’ll read the next one. Why do I do this to myself?

Read my book review of Melissa K. Roehrich’s Rain of Shadows and Endings, book one of the Legacy series. This is a fantasy romance with Demigods and Fae filled with magic.
