Honestly this was such a wild ride, I had no idea where the story was going or what was going to happen next. It was a slightly anti-climactic ending.. I did think Tessa was going to tell Theon to go fuck himself after she realised she isn’t a fae and isn’t bound by the rules of the source bond, but that didn’t happen and instead Tessa went about BAU with Theon. It was so confusing!

Also there were other events I was expecting to be catastrophic but in the end it seemed a bit lacklustre, and didn’t play out the way I was expecting. I kind of love that though? You had no idea what to expect.

Tessa changed by the end of the book, she became a completely new person, almost unhinged but parts of her were the same old Tessa. As a reader that was a little confusing as we can’t predict what she was thinking/feeling at the time until the very end of the book with her POV. I think even Tessa isn’t sure how to proceed at this point.

I was absolutely loving this book and the world building and the tension between Theon and Tessa, but I came absolutely confused by the story and the plot by the end of it haha. I am looking forward to seeing how it plays out.

A lot of people emphasised that this book is DARK and to be honest I didn’t think it was too crazy. Maybe my tolerance for dark themes is higher than most but I honestly didn’t feel like it was as dark as people claimed it to be.

Favourite quotes:

- She shook her head in denial at his comment, and his magic stilled. She nearly sobbed at the loss, her entire body shaking with want and need. “Hear me well, Tessa. Everything you are is mine. Everything you have to give, I will take, including your pleasure.”

- “Shadows are cunning, don’t you think? The light doesn’t realize the shadows are circling until there’s nowhere for them to go. It’s either join the shadows, or drown in the darkness.”

- “I’m sorry I failed you, little storm,” Theon said, sorrow flashing in his eyes. “I’m sorry I loved you too late. But I’m yours. Every piece of me.”

- Strength is fighting back. Strength is doing whatever it takes to claim what is yours, even if others try to convince you it is not yours to take.

- “I understand… Master.” She knew the word should taste bitter on her tongue, but to her horror, it was sweet and wanted. “Good girl,” he said, releasing her wrist and stroking her cheek once more.

- “You can fight it all you want, but you are going to belong to me. Every piece of you.”

Read almost 500 pages and nothing happened.
Understand Tessa has some deep trauma but acting like a child every other pages just gets very irritating… the story pretty much repeats for 400 pages. Not for me.
