i practically forced myself to finish this. i hate the surprise pregnancy plot and i hated these two characters. there was no build up to their relationship and it was almost instaluvy for my taste. i hated the fl and the ml wasnt any better. she had slept with the guy ONCE and was ready to have his child and get married 😭😭 that was just not for me. i can’t even remember what i enjoyed bc i gave up this book and read two books before i decided to pick this up and finish it ugh… surprise pregnancy trope should be warned on books bc ew pls i rebuke it.

Love love love Connor and Natalie!!!!!!! By far one of the best brother’s best friend/little sister story!!! Connor was NOT your typical hero. He didn’t beat around the bush when it came to Natalie. When the timing was right he was like you’re mines and I loved it!!!!! Natalie always had a crush on Connor and she thought he didn’t ā€œseeā€ her what she didn’t know he was just patiently waiting until the time was right. He was persistent and she had her doubts because of the seed of doubt planted by her mom when she was younger. She didn’t make it easy for Connor and he wasn’t backing down. They were both successful in their careers and I loved how they treated each other as equals; one wasn’t above the other. Her brother Noah?! Awesome and funny along with her bff. There was a surprise in their love story that shifted things and it just made their story wayyyyyy better. The epilogue?! Freaking hilarious and beautiful all at the same time. She was downright funny in that epilogue. I want more!!! And I loved they were Red Sox fans, ā¤ļø.

this book had some of my favorite tropes such as brothers best friend and unexpected pregnancy but i just wasnt invested in the characters, they felt really bland to me. & usually i love rs grey books but this one just wasnt good for me.

Note: An ARC was provided by the author.

I had a song running in my head by the time I was done reading R.S. Grey's latest humdinger of a romance novel, so allow me to quote a few of the lines: "Doctor Doctor, gimme the news; I got a bad case of lovin' you; No pill's gonna cure my ill; I got a bad case of lovin' you". It's from "Bad Case of Loving You", specifically the 1979 version sung by Robert Palmer. It's fitting for Grey's book because Doctor Dearest is about not just one but two doctors who are its main characters, as well as having a self-diagnosed, very incurable, not-so-bad case of loving this book.

For about the first half of the book, there was a lot of push and pull between Natalie and Connor, and I understood why taking that step towards something beyond being tied together by their connection to Noah was a difficult one to take. The chemistry was a clear and present danger, and I say "danger" because these two were combustible and whenever they would deny themselves being with each other, it became dangerous to their mental, emotional, and sexual health. Tension was high and palpable and had me eagerly cheering these two on.

I adored the main characters, and the pacing was good and steady for the most part, although I will admit that there were times where I just wanted to drag these two into a room, lock the door, and order them to get on with it already! Gah! But hey, I've never been known for my patience. This was a fun read, and one that provided me with a couple of hours of entertainment but stayed with me long after. I've got my fingers crossed for a book with Dr. Noah Martin and Dr. Lindsey Brooks (Natalie's bestie) in the near future! I'm giving 4.5 stars to Doctor Dearest. ♄

I was just binge watching Grey's Anatomy the other day and wishing for a story that made me feel like that show makes me feel. ViolĆ”, it is as if this book was a Festivus Miracle. It made me feel like I was in the show.

Humor, intriguing storyline, great characters, and chemistry galore made this a great book. The surgery terms did get a bit much at times but then again it gets to be too much on the show.

I felt like I skimmed most of the pages and this book ended up having one of my least favorite tropes... it was a good read to pass the time though!

Natalie and Connor have had a crush on each other for years. They never did anything about it because Connor's best friend is Natalie's brother, also, she was a resident studying under him in the BICU. Both Natalie and Connor are burn surgeons. I loved all of the time they spent at the hospital with their patients. Many times we see doctors in books, but there were actually detailed descriptions of surgeries that took place and I appreciated this. It made this seem completely real and it made me feel like I was right there with them.
These two stumbled their way through a relationship for sure. They both knew they wanted each other, but getting the right words out was a huge struggle. There were so many times I wanted to shake both of them because they wouldn't just communicate how they felt! We knew how much they loved each other because of their inner monologue, but they couldn't voice it out loud! In the end, it came together beautifully and these two were just adorable. I can always trust Rachel to make me smile so big my face hurts when I read her books.

Er this was mediocre... it's your typical romance book plot without anything new or interesting added in.

Wished there were more actions when they did surgery and not just a time skip. I noticed a lot of other time skips too in this book, just telling us where they had been and where they were now. And some of it was irrelevant.

Natalie and Connor's big fight before they officially got together was a little bit immature. I wasn't rooting for their relationship to be honest. Got bored of their relationship halfway through the book.

Premise: Connor was staying at Noah's townhouse with Natalie while his was being renovated.
SpoilerAnyways, she got pregnant at around 80% ish. Noah, Natalie's brother found out, Noah and Connor fought it out.

September 2021 reread:
I’m happy to say that I still enjoyed reading this book the second time around. I love how well RS Grey writes about working in healthcare - I know she and her husband have a background in it. I studied something similar and it’s just so interesting to read about in her books! I feel like I’m learning somethibg new! And of course, I really enjoyed the chemistry between Natalie and Connor. They have a bit of a back and forth that made me want to shake them a little but they do hit their stride and it’s pretty satisfying to read

I just finished reading Doctor Dearest by R. S. Grey and holy crap. It’s definitely vying for the position as one of my favorites from Rachel. The main characters, Natalie and Connor, stole my heart from the first pages and they never gave it back.
Natalie is a kickass doctor working in the Burn Intensive Care Unit. She's been living with her older brother, Noah, through her residency, but now Noah's traveling for work. He invites his best friend, Connor to crash in his townhouse while he's away, one, because Connor's getting renovations done on his townhouse, and two, Connor can keep an eye on Natalie while they live together. This would be totally fine for Natalie, if it weren't for the fact that she's had a crush on Connor forever. I love the older brother's best friend trope and this book delivered on it.
Natalie’s character is one of my favorites so far. She’s this amazing, smart doctor - like a true-kick-ass-I-want-to-be-her-when-I-grow-up woman. I also really enjoyed that she started as this independent person and needed to learn to allow others to help her sometimes. That kind of growth in a character is always interesting to me because I’m similar in that I’d rather rely on myself than let anyone else help. And Connor Easton is the epitome of swoon worthy - doctor and ex-quarterback? Oh hell yes! Throughout the book he managed to balance pushing Natalie past her comfort zone and giving her the space when she needed it. He’s an alpha male that’s still respectful and I’m all here for that. These two were absolutely perfect for each other.
I can not stress enough how much I loved this book - like the pacing was perfect for me. I was hooked from the first chapter and had to restrain myself not to fly through it too fast. And the climax? That was something I had not seen coming from R. S. Grey and after reading so many of her books, for her to still surprise me? Amazing job!
I love how realistic Rachel’s books are. Maybe not all of the things actually happen in a hospital, but Rachel writes about it in a way where it feels more realistic than other authors who might skim over the details of what a normal day looks like in the BICU, and the hierarchy of doctors and medical students. It’s pretty evident that she puts a lot of research into writing her books - Hotshot Doc and His Royal Highness come to mind, and Doctor Dearest is no exception. As a reader, I appreciate it. I get to enjoy a story from a passionate author - and I get to learn something new.
If you’re a fan of romantic comedy, R. S. Grey, or the older brother’s best friend trope, you should absolutely read this book.
