Something straight out of Grey’s Anatomy, just with a much more realistic medical side. For people who love the medical drama but want a little more realistic medical side, this is the book for you.
Natalie and Connor have skirted around each other for years. He’s her brother’s best friend and also an attending in her unit. The two shouldn’t even think about being together but when Natalie is finally climbing the ranks and they are thrust together, they can’t hide their feelings. A hot, quick read with some funny and not so funny medical bits that keeps you wanting more.
I won’t say I loved this book, Natalie wasn’t my favourite character but also wasn’t my least favourite. I just found a lot of issues in how she was presented, coming off as much more immature for a doctor.
Now, this will be a very unpopular opinion but I did not like Connor all that much. Sure he’s hot, sure he cares some of the time but for the most part he was cocky and liked to play games with Natalie and her feelings. It might not be how he tried to come off but it never settled with me well that one minute he’s ignoring her and the next wanting her, but only if she jumps through his hoops the way he wants.
I enjoyed the read but found some parts too long and other parts too short. A little less medical jargon and repetition of events would have worked better. It was unnecessary to rehash events from both perspectives.
I liked this book, was it my favourite? No. Will I recommend it? Sure.

I discovered R.S. Grey last year before a week long vacation with no internet. I loaded up my kindle and devoured her books. They’re so easy to get into and so readable that I tend to finish them in one sitting, Doctor Dearest was no exception. I loved the chemistry between Connon and Natalie. The forced proximity of their living situation was exactly what they needed to push their crushes/forbidden romance to the next level. I loved the Boston burn unit hospital setting, and the drive both Natalie and Connor had in all facets of their lives, two alphas duking it out for relationship control and trying to deny they’re head over heels for each other makes for compelling reading. Now I’m wishing we’d get a book about Noah I feel like there was a great setup of a possible romance with Lindsey.
never loved this trope as much as I did in this one. so adorable and cute. my heart belongs to them.
I absolutely love everything R.S. Grey has done so far- each book I read I think "this is my favorite". And alas, she has done it again. Doctor Dearest has stolen the position of top spot in my list. I might be biased because the book is set in Boston, and I live in Boston, but man, this was GOOD. The banter between the characters was great and Natalie was FIERCE. Without giving away too much, I also liked that this wasn't just a fairy-tale romance and it was realistic. Life throws unexpected things our way, and Rachel really nailed that in this book. Highly recommend that you grab a copy and give yourself a few hours to read, because you won't be able to put it down!

I got to chapter 13 and just didn’t want to finish. I didn’t like how they treated each other. They are so into each other yet they have to fight to get the upper hand. It’s all just a game, it makes it feel like there are no true feelings or emotions involved, only lust. I mean they finally have sex and they just blow up at each other. I don’t care for books like that and I have too many on my to read list to continue with it.
