Skylar and Nathan Davenport story. She is Nate’s best friend Ben’s little sister. Nate and Ben are in the military together, and Nathan is trying to take down his grandfathers company since they turned their backs on him and his mother when he was born. Skylar is on the brinks of losing her bakery. Nathan steps in and offers to help with one condition, she has to marry him. He cannot become the CEO of the Davenport company without being married. Skylar thinks that Nathan hates her since she kissed him on her eighteenth birthday, and he disappeared. He promised Ben he would take care of Skylar, and he’s determined to keep that promise since he’s been in love with her ever since that kiss all those years ago.

Took a while for me to care about the characters.

i have biased thoughts about this book.
whoo, my emotions on this book are still high, and i’ve liked the journey, l.steel took us readers on.

from the marriage of convinience trope to brother’s best friend, to age gap, to one bed and finally to opposite attract, this book had it all. it was the complete package giving us readers just what we love.
i loved nate’s and his starling’s story, the way it developed from a small crush to them happinly living after.
i related so much with skylar being a plus size girl myself and her love for baking! skylar, love, i love you! i see you and just know that we’re the best!
tbh i was attracted to the book seeing the title ‘the unwanted wife’ and i thought there might be some ‘unwanted wife moments’ which sadly i didn’t get.
but overall, this book was a lovely read.

The writing was awful and there were a lot of weird phrasings.
adventurous emotional mysterious medium-paced

Save yourself the trouble, it was not good. The writing was not my style. I wasn't a fan of the innuendos and this book made me realize I hate the word "awww"

I don't get how Skylar liking mushrooms and brussel sprouts is weird. It was giving such pick me girl vibes. Didn't love Nate that much as a character either. HE WAS 15 YEARS OLDER THAN HER. Cannot believe he kissed her when he did.

I was genuinely confused at the plot twist. i was like HUH? It's the writing, I swear.

If I could get myself to DNF books, this would have been one of
