I should've previewed this, but it was available on Kindle Unlimited, so I borrowed it. I read the first couple of chapters and decided it just really didn't interest me, so I returned it.
Who is Dr. Cain Turner? What kind of Doctor is he? Where is he? Where is he from? Who is Faith McKinnon? Who is his brother? Where are their parents? Who are Faith, Harmony, Honor, and Patience? What type of women are they? Who is Zeke? I have to say, my favorite character of all in this book is definitely Aunt Orla. ESPECIALLY near the end of the book. That was too funny. This was a seriously heartbreaking, funny, romantic, second-chance book if ever I have read one. I could not put it down once I started reading it. You'll have to read it to see why.

This book has been sitting on my TBR list for a bit now, and this weekend I finally got to it. I wish I would have read it sooner. I LOVED it!! Absolutely loved it!!!!
Fantastic writing, the story is well developed and the characters and their story are easy to relate to. Cain and Faith are in love and are happy living their lives in their hometown. Cain is a physician and is on the reserve. He is deployed to Afghanistan and before he leaves on duty he proposes to Faith. While he is deployed he sees many things that are forever embedded on his memory and he finds himself having a hard time believing he still is worthy of Faith's love. He makes a decision that will change his and Faith's life and pretty soon after, he regrets this decision. Right before Cain's return to the States he is ambushed and none of the soldiers with him survived. He does. but has the scars to remind him every day of what happened. He returns a changed man and with his brother and Faith's sisters help, they make him see reason and to take action. Now he has to prove himself to his family, friends but more importantly, Faith. Will they have their HEA?? Well, I guess you'll have to pick this baby up and read it. Can't recommend it enough!! If there was an option to give it more stars I would. Go #OneClickIt

5 SOUL WRENCHING STAR THOUGHTS
Where do I even begin??? BEST BOOK YET by Sarah O'Rourke! AMAZING! This book is different from her erotica series, but just as HOT! I loved every character in the book and can't wait to read more about them. I officially want to be one of the McKinnon sisters! And Cain. . .HOT, stubborn, and so sweet!
Faith McKinnon has been in love with Cain Turner forever! He completes her and loves her unconditionally. But when he is deployed everything they both want seems impossible.
"Faith McKinnon was everything he'd ever wanted…and nothing he'd ever deserved to have. Especially after being tainted by this goddamned war. It was time to let her go."
Dr. Cain Turner's life will never be the same. While deployed he realized that he could never make Faith happy and she deserved more than he could give. The war destroyed him, leaving him lost. So he tries to protect Faith by sending her a Dear John letter explaining that they could never be together.
"Afghanistan chips away at a man's soul, Honor. War makes a man forget who he is."
When Faith received that letter she was devastated, broken and sad. And now she is still all of those things but also angry. When she finds out that Cain is back in town she is MAD. She is mad because he didn't tell her he was home. But when they finally do meet the fireworks are still there for both of them but Faith has no idea how she can forgive him and Cain doesn't know if he can ever be the man Faith loves again.
"Just say you forgive me, and I'll spend the rest of my life proving I can be the kind of man you deserve."
Finally family and friends decide to help fate out and bring these two back together. But is it too late? Can she ever forgive him? Can Cain ever be the man he was before the war? Or has too much changed?
"You are not responsible for the sins of the world. That is not your cross to bear."
Life after being deployed to a war zone is never easy. I can relate as a military wife, that this is real (sometimes too real), and happening every day. Sarah O'Rourke has written a truly beautiful story about military life, love, and forgiveness. There are not enough words to explain how much I LOVED this story! And can't wait for more from the rest of the McKinnon Sisters! (I REALLY REALLY want to be their new sister!!)

I was given this book by the author for an honest review.
At first I was hesitant in reading this book. I read and re-read the first few pages a couple of times and couldn't get into it. Probably because I was busy with other books simultaneously. But as I sat down and forced myself to concentrate on just this book I actually found it very entertaining.
The characters were nicely developed and I loved how the book was written from everyone's perspective without being boring. As I was reading the hotter scenes, i started getting a sense of Dèja Vu with my own life. It gave me a sense of nostalgia.
I really loved the characters of Cain and Faith and wished that there was more to read at the end. It was a moment of silence at the end of the book where you sit with the book in hand and just think with the warm fuzzy feeling running through you.
It really was a great read, and I would read it again in the future.
Thanks Sarah O'Rourke for a great story.

This is an emotionally powerful story. It has dark moments and a strong message if love, faith, and forgiveness. There are many mature themes touched upon this book. Cain is a doctor working for the small hospital near his home in Paradise, Tennessee. He has a twin brother, Abel and his best friend Zeke is the sheriff. The McKinnon sisters, Honor, Harmony, Patience, and Faith have been on their own since their parents were killed by a drunk driver years ago. Honor has been through her own horrific past and even though she is the youngest sister she is very much in charge. Cain gets orders to deploy to Afghanistan and serve a 15 month deployment there as a doctor. He proposes to his true love Faith prior to leaving. He promises he will be back and he loves her. About halfway through the deployment, Cain is now a broken man. He is seeing the effects of this war everyday and is unable to think clearly. He ends up sending Faith a letter ending their engagement without any explanation. Faith is back home beside herself trying to figure out what she did wrong. Cain finally makes it home but hides on his father's farm so no one can find him. Abel determines that his twin needs help and that Faith needs Cain. He works with Honor on a plan to get them back together. So enough the whole family is involved and locks the two of them in the bar refrigerator one night. Cain and Faith learn what the other has been thinking and feeling and determine their own future. This story explored the depths of war and what it can do to the person in the war and also the person waiting back home. This was not a gentle story but one that spoke to the reader of honesty and love. I commend the author for writing this poignant and necessary story. The characters are honest and well guided throughout the story. The plot travels both continents with ease. The dialogue is believable and moving. This was definitely one of the best books I have read in a while.
This was a great read second chance read where Cain broke up with Faith thinking he was doing both of them a favor but well that didn't work out well for either of them and now he is a broken man in more ways than one and if anyone can help him Faith can. There is a lot of emotions you through while reading this book not just with what Cain went through while in Afghanistan but also with both Faith and him and the rest of their Family and friends. This was not just a great read about Faith and Cain but also fabulous world building for the rest of the series.
I have to start out with saying that I love the McKinnon sisters. I love their personalities, I love the way they work together, stand up for each other, and fight for each other. What an amazing family with a beautiful bond.
I actually honestly loved each and every character from the sisters to Cain and his brother Able to Zeke. This is friendship built in a small town where everyone knows everyone and everybody looks out for each other.
Now on to the main story. We start out with Cain in Afghanistan, a doctor at war. He has been through hell and thinks that the love of his life, Faith, would be better off without the man he had become in her life. Faith was left devastated and confused because all he said was move on with your life. No reasons. No explanations. Just get over me and get on with it.
Flash forward to a few months later Cain is back home pretty much attempting to destroy himself by drinking and isolation, Faith’s sister, Honor (I know, I love their names too), steps in and the story takes off.
I think Sarah O’Rourke did an amazing job at portraying the hopelessness and emptiness that Cain felt from his time in Afghanistan. She didn’t gloss over things, she had Cain put out there what he’d been through, why he was hurting so badly inside.
We felt Faith’s pain as she is crying out to him, begging him to tell her why. It was heart wrenching.
These two are soul mates that need to find their way back to each other. Will Faith forgive Cain for the heartache that he inflicted on her with his move on letter?
At the end of this book I finally have a name for the genre I like. Romantica! I never like books that are straight sex with no plot. I want it to mean something, be part of the storyline. This book has a beautiful storyline, is full of emotion, and has some seriously hot scenes weaved throughout.
I really liked it and now I want every other sister’s story. :D I need to go look and see what all is on Sarah’s backlist.
Thank you so much for my ARC!

Dr. Cain Turner was engaged to the love of his life Faith McKinnon but his time in Afghanistan made him realize he needed to let her go. Faith doesn't know that he has returned home and has been devastated since he sent her a Dead John letter. Now with the help of family Faith and Cain are being pushed together, can Cain regain Faith's trust and build a future?
Really good story, you get why Cain does what he does but you also want to smack him. I love these sisters, each of their stories brings a few tears. If you have not picked up this series definitely one to put on your radar.
