Dan Slott won my heart with his She-Hulk run and then Silver Surfer, so I was excited to catch up on his other space-faring Marvel group. Admittedly, I have never cared for the FF, mostly because Reed Richards always seemed like such a dick, and his family didn't do much but be corny and fight.

In this book, I was shocked to see that Reed's good parenting skills were the high points. But still, this volume seems to rely on a reader's already caring deeply about these characters.

A solid start with incredible art. It was a little compressed, and it felt like it was in a hurry to clean up continuity and set the stage for the run. I get it, but it could have used one more issue. I would have liked a bit more on the years of exploration everyone but Ben and Johnny were doing. The new villain is interesting, and I suspect we’ll see her again, but she also felt a little short changed. The art by Pichelli, Casselli, and Gracia is the biggest highlight.

A really beautiful work especially Pichelli's drawing. This volume is a wonderful and heartwarming story of family sticking together, proving that the Fantastic Four is the best superhero team there is.

The Fantastic Four are like the DC universe characters that just by chance are in the Marvel U. By that I mean: I never know what the fuck is going on with them. They're always in a dimension or a portal or a parallelogramiverse or whatever. Which is fine, and then they get out of it and do a different thing that's kind of the same thing but this time there are gillmen or something.

Dan Slott's a good writer, and that's what brought me to this book. But Thing barely clobbers, Johnny barely flames, and holy shit, I don't know if Sue Storm was invisible once.

And I DO NOT care about Valeria and...Todd? Jason...Franklin? I think it's Franklin. Whatever, it's the Fantastic Four, not Fantastic Four Babiez with a backwards Z. I don't know how to type a backwards Z. So if you wanna see this review as I intended, you'll have to go to my web site, then look up the registration to my web site so you can come to my house. Then you'll have to break in because I'm not letting you in because you "read my review on Goodreads." That's the start of a story where I get killed and nobody feels bad for me.

This is how you make a triumphant return! Marvel's first family is back!

This was a great reintroduction for the 2010s and I am looking forward to reading some more modern FF stories!

Wow, I read this before and gave it a really low rating. I don't know if I just was in a bad mood or what, but I really liked it this time around. I have no idea what changed. Maybe it literally was just my headspace. Huh.
