I read this first when I was in High School and it helped me then, and reading it now it's helped in different ways. I've always been shy and fearful and I still am, but it's easier when I read this book. I don't do everything it suggests and feel like it would be a full time job if I did, but it holds some good points to remember. Not everything that we worry will happen is as bad as we think it is. Negativity isn't realism. Ect...Worth a read to anyone feeling overwhelmed in their lives.

I picked up the audiobook during an art study that I was doing and I agreed on a handful of notes that the book stated, but others made me rather uncomfortable.

Positives:
- You get one chance, use it.
- You should try to make the best out of a bad situation.

Negatives:
- The book states that you're at fault for feeling anything negative when somebody else does something bad to you. It makes it seem that people are only victims if they want to be ones. Please remember, you don't control other people's actions.
- To some extent, this book promotes toxic positivity.
- This book promotes thankfulness to people who have hurt/harmed you in any way.

Toxic positivity: the pressure to only display positive emotions, suppressing any negative emotions, feelings, reactions, or experience. Note that this can lead to trauma, isolation, and unhealthy coping mechanisms.

Such a great book. I immediately started practicing the exercises it gives and have felt very joyous in the last few days.

A good place to start when dealing with fear or anxiety. The author provides helpful exercises and stories which illustrate these.
