I love mysteries and have always been a huge geek for Greek myths, so I was super excited to get an early copy of this one—and it didn’t disappoint. Megan Collins’s writing is a cut above that which you find in most contemporary thrillers, which made this a pleasure to read. The Winter Sister is a can’t-put-down debut about mothers and daughters, sisters and secrets. The myth of Demeter and Persephone thunders in the background of its suspenseful story, adding richness to its mystery. Chilling and beautifully crafted.

I enjoyed it even thought it was predictable and the characters could be annoying.
I really enjoyed this book. Well written and engaging, it was a real page turner. Looking forward to her next book!
This was a well-written read. It is a story that is similar to others of the genre, but the writing is so enjoyable that it doesn't matter. It is about Sylvie managing the aftermath and mystery of her sister Persephone's murder. After coming home to care for her ailing mother, she chooses to find out what happened all those years earlier.
Megan Collin's writing is so excellent that I was surprised to find that it is a debut novel. I would definitely read any of her other future novels. It was hard to put this one down. 3.5/5 but the writing gets it closer to a 4.
Thank you to Netgalley and Atria books for the advanced reading copy.

"I believed that a heart could pound with pain and love at exactly the same time."
The Winter Sister was my introduction to Megan Collins. Although the actual plot of this book is reminiscent of quite a few other thrillers, Collins' writing is hauntingly gorgeous. This is an atmospheric slow burn, which is not what I usually go for, but I really enjoyed this one.
This book is both a character study and a mystery, and it's a deep dive into grief and healing. It does take a turn for the overly dramatic toward the end, but I thought it still worked well as a whole. I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for more from Megan Collins.

The Winter Sister is a story of love and betrayal.
Sylvie is only a young teenager when her sister is found dead after missing for three days. Her mother going in to her own world. And Sylvie's aunt is left to take care of her and be her parent.
Sixteen years later Sylvie is living in Providence with her best friend. Her aunt tells her that her mother has cancer. Due to all her drinking. Few months later Sylvie has to go home and take care of her mother.
While at the hospital when her mom gets her chemo she runs in to, who she believes is her sisters killer.
What follows is a story with many twist and turns. Your never sure who killed Persephone. You lean towards one person. Then that changes. It changes even at the last possible moment.
Megan Collins wrote an amazing rollercoaster of a story. It kept a me on the edge of my seat. I love it up to the very end! I do recommend this book.
