Each book in this series has been amazing and this one is no different.
Keenlani and Dex were childhood sweethearts, that due to life and a tragic accident forced them apart. Both had their heart broken by the other. They didn't know how to fix their broken hearts or how to move on from one another.
Now 12 years later, they are forced to be near one another for Keelani's performances at the HEAT Las Vegas Casino. When Keelani's record label wants her to be in a fake engagement to another fellow singer, Dex can't control his jealousy and decides that Keelani will be engaged to him instead.
As their fake engagement went on and having to live in the same suite together they started to become their old selves and saw that they never truly moved on from one another and still very much loved each other.
Kee was basically a sacrificial lamb that, kept sacrifying herself for her family over and over again. She did call herself a doormat, which was very much true. She was so ready to protect others, but didn't have anyone to truly protect her and honestly she didn't think she could be saved. She's such a strong soul, but couldn't find the courage to stand up for herself. I do have to say, she really did give it her all to hide everything from everyone.
Dex was so heartbroken, jealous and devastated he was run by his feelings and couldn't see what was in front of him and the true intentions of Kee. He threw himself into his work and tried to move on. His over the top possessiveness was honestly very hot!
The anger, banter, hatred and love between these two was something else. The spice was top notch, but also Kee & Dex both healing was absolute perfection!

Want a second chance romance with angst and a HEA? This is it! Dex and Keelani’s story is one I enjoyed till the end! Not to mention the 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️. Whew🥵I am also guessing there will be a 4th book in the series with Dimitri and Olive 🥰 at least I hope there is. The Hardy Brothers are to die for! 😍 Here are some more tropes:
- Fake engagement
- Obsessed hero
- Touch her and 💀vibes

Did I read this in one day? Yep.
Am I a sucker for Shain Rose? Absolutely.
Did I want to knock Dex and Kee in the heads? hold on let me put the rings on.
In the beginning I wasn't sure if I was going to like them, there was so much heartbreak in the beginning, of both people making the choice to leave each other.
After a decade and more, Kee is given the opportunity to become the artist that she truly wanted to be in the beginning but never was able to due her label. Also the opportunity to provide for her family including her mother. But one thing stood in the way, the man that broke her heart and she broke his. When due to publicity Kee gets engaged to another man (someone just for PR), Dex won't have that.
Dex, I wanted to slap this man across the pages, turned cold but never let go of Kee, so when she gets "engaged" to another man, he steps in and makes her a deal that she can't turn down. But slowly they begin reignite the flame that they thought was gone for so long. Dex will never let go of what he believes is he, and certainly nobody touches or sees what is his.
This one had me in the feels in the very beginning, and I kept reading to make sure they got their happily ever after.
The spice was verrrryyy habinero spicy. I mean, really with Shain Rose, you can't go wrong.

Trope:
Second chance
Force proximity
Marriage of covenience
Kee and Dex made my blood boil I swear, this two will not make you regret buying the book. They were meant to be together, communication is always the key I wanted to fight them a lot of time.
They never move on, I also understand Dex not returning into their hometown but man how could you be so clueless

Between Never and Forever is my third book in the Hardy Billionaire Brothers series and my least favorite. Once again author Shain Rose relies on a fake dating/engagement plot focused on PR stunts that just felt stale. I think there were other avenues to go, specifically dealing with Keelani's contracts and I saw snippets where I thought Rose may jaunt that way but she never did.
The spice level is high, as you'd come to expect with this series, and well written. I didn't enjoy reading about their first sexual encounter; the idea of Kee being so unexperienced in her early 30s was so preposterous it took me out of the story for a minute. After that initial interaction, the spice was as expected.
Dex is my least favorite Hardy brother after reading Between Never and Forever. The banter between Dex and Keelani didn't hit the same way and their connection just felt off. There were times I really enjoyed the story and then there were times where I was glossing over certain areas. There is a fourth book coming out in the series and I do plan to continue on.
