Bloody hell! Never mind the dark, monsters under the bed or a psycho serial killer! This scenario right here is the stuff of nightmares!

Separated from her husband, Ali is persuaded by her friends to go out on a date. But the next morning, Ali doesn’t remember a single thing about the previous night. Even worse, she doesn’t recognise the face in the mirror staring back at her. What on earth happened? Did someone try to hurt her and why?

Ali suffers from what’s called face blindness, a condition where you can’t tell one face from the other. Not your own, not your nearest and dearest. Who even knew that was a thing? But it is! It’s real and it’s utterly frightening! It’s incredibly easy to imagine how scary it is, to go out there and not know anyone, not be able to tell one person from the next. And in Ali’s case, it becomes even more terrifying, if that were even possible, when it seems someone is after her. But how do you find out who it is when you don’t recognise anyone? Argh!

There are a lot of secrets and skeletons lurking in the closets, some of which are truly heartbreaking. With some tough topics, I quickly found myself caught up on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. I must say, I feel that Louise Jensen did a fabulous job delving into what could be quite sensitive issues without sensationalising things for the sake of an explosive thriller.

This is one twisty psychological thriller! I thought for sure I had figured the whole thing out but I kept changing my mind throughout and was still proven wrong in the end. Just like Ali, you end up suspecting just about everyone and I was completely blindsided by the reveal.

The Date is an immensely gripping, compelling and addictive page-turner! My mind was blown and I didn’t want to put it down. You will not want to either. I’m beginning to think Louise Jensen can do no wrong. Absolutely brilliant and if you enjoy your psychological thrillers, then this is most definitely a must read!

The Date by Louise Jensen was just brilliant! I was lost for words when I finished reading it... what an ending! I have loved all of this authors books and this one was no exception.

Ali is separated from her husband and is convinced by a friend to go on a blind date. The next morning she wakes with no memory of what happened the night before. She also does not recognise her own face in the mirror, or that of any of her family or friends. You might think you have this one all figured out.. I assure you I thought the same...and I was wrong so many times.

A very big thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book to read and enjoy in exchange for my honest opinions

I have been staring at this review for a week now and I still can't get something proper on paper that isn't the phrase: 'just read the damn book'. Because frankly, The Date left me speechless and blew me away and I'm still not sure how to properly turn this love into a coherent review. Time is ticking away though, so here is me giving a try anyway. First of all let me start with the basics. The fact is that Louise Jensen is one of my favorite thriller authors and of course I had very high expectations about her newest title The Date. I had no doubt this was going to be another excellent read, but what I didn't expect was to get my socks knocked off and find a new absolute favorite. Holy cow, what a read! I literally dropped everything I was supposed to be doing after reading the first few pages and couldn't put it down until I reached the very end. Not only is the writing sublime, but the suspense is spot on and I'm always a sucker for the amnesia element. Especially in this case, where the main character is unable to recognize faces (prosopagnosia) after trauma, which is something I had never came across before and is truly fascinating. This element plays a key role in the development of the plot and plot twists and without doubt adds a lot of suspense and intrigue to the story. But The Date doesn't bet on one horse and an intricate web of twists, little hints and unlikeable discoveries is cast over the plot in a way that will have you fully absorbed. You can guess all you want about the ending and maybe even get one or two little facts right, but you will never be able to guess the full truth early on. The Date is one of the best psychological thrillers I've read this year and without doubt a new all time favorite!

Alison Taylor's Saturday night started out normal enough. She has recently separated from her husband, and her friends have convinced her to go on a date with a man she met online. While nervous, she is excited to be taking this step towards a possible new future... But what she doesn't know, is that her life is about to change forever. Because when she wakes up the next day, she is home alone, hurt and has no memory of what happened to her. Even worse, when she looks in the mirror, she doesn't recognize her own face... And as turns out, she doesn't recognize the faces of her friends and family either, along with the face of the person who is trying to destroy her in the first place.

Bring out the superlatives and invite them to this review party, because I'll need a lot of them to describe my feelings about The Date. I read a lot of thrillers, but this story was simply something else. The Date ticked all the right boxes for me and more, and I literally dropped everything to read this psychological thriller. Fascinating, highly addictive and utterly absorbing! If you are a fan of the genre, you simply MUST try this one. Trust me, you won't regret it.

Labai gerai ir netikėtai sukaltas trileris sukaltas iš labai neįprastos perspektyvos. Labai rekomenduoju.

Saturday Night Allison Taylor who has just recently separated from her husband Matt decides to go on a blind date. To keep it safe she meets the man at a local bar. When she opens her eyes Sunday morning she immediately knows something isn’t right. She’s sore and feels a huge lump on her head and has blood on her. Rushing to the bathroom she’s shocked when she looks into the mirror she doesn’t recognize herself. Her brother Ben takes her to the hospital after the doctors run some tests they inform her she has Prosopagnosia another name for face blindness. It’s not just effecting that she doesn’t recognize herself it’s also effecting the fact she doesn’t recognize anyone in her life. She also doesn’t know how she got her injuries. After arriving back home she receives an anonymous message that says “enjoy the date bitch? She begins to wonder what exactly happened on her date, her roommate is missing, who was the man she was supposed to meet at the bar? Why is the person sending her messages and how will she remember who attacked her if she can’t even remember her own face? Who can she trust? I read this book so fast I could not put it down! I even found myself trying to figure out who and what happened that night! This was definitely and edge of your seat book! The author did an amazing job at adding twists and turns and having the reader really feel for the main character. I loved the chapters that gave you a peek into the characters past. I give this four stars!

On the upside, this definitely kept me guessing and raised my blood pressure, as good thrillers do. On the downside, I didn’t particularly like how the story was told. There were lots of flashbacks to the main character’s childhood, and some connections made that I honestly found to be far fetched. These connections and flashbacks led to a resolution that I found to also be very far fetched. I mostly felt relieved when I finished this.

"There comes a time when you have to stop crossing oceans for someone who wouldn't even jump in puddles for you."

I think this book had a lot of potential. It was decent, but ultimately not something that was "unputdownable" to me. I was ready to be finished with the book by the time i was halfway through. The story as a whole was slow so I lost interest a few times throughout. It was too wordy in the places that it didn't need to be, if that makes sense.

I felt like the author had way too much going on with The Date. It could have been condensed and even more thrilling had she just took a couple of lengthy paragraphs out. And when I say lengthy- I mean it. One paragraph took up two of my kindles pages! It was just too much, I feel like that is begging your reader to skim it. So, when I would see those long paragraphs pop up, that's exactly what I did. I skimmed it.

The writing wasn't my favorite but it wasn't awful either. It was just enough to keep me going. Although the plot was a tad unrealistic, the author did a good job at piecing together all of the puzzles for us and leaving no leaf unturned. One thing would pop up and it would be followed by three more things and as frustrating as it was to keep up with, the author did a great job keeping up with the story line and allowing the answers to be brought to light.

"It's comprehensible we can reach inside the darkest depths of someone else's mind, when we ignore the blackness lurking in our own."

I think had the story been much shorter and less drawn out it would have been a hit with me. But the originality, despite the amnesia plot, was good. I liked how everything ended and played out. Definitely not my favorite type of thriller, but it was well...decent.
