Frank McCourt reads the audiobook in his Irish brogue, and he really brings out the humor and hope in what could otherwise be a truly depressing memoir.

McCourt's approach to have this story told through his pre-adolescent eyes casts a damning yet humorous criticism of the hypocrisy of the religion, the education, the parenting, and the systemic failures that surround young Frank.
