HE’S BACKKK!!! Percy has returned!!! I cannot tell you how absolutely magical it was to see “PERCY” as the first chapter POV when I cracked this book open for the first time back in 2011. It was a breath of relief. It was like meeting an old friend. I still get giddy being able to jump back into storytelling with Percy after The Lost Hero. Even though HOO is third-person point of view (compared to first in PJO), Percy’s voice still shines through. Plus, we get to meet Hazel and Frank, two characters with such depth and backstory. I love!!! My favorite was learning about Camp Jupiter and how the Romans function. I wish the trio spent more time at camp! The timeline does feel rushed, but the world is at stake so I guess that’s okay sure sure sure. ANYWAY, SON OF NEPTUNE IS ICONIC FOREVER.

Lots of action and interesting tidbits about Greek and Roman mythology. Fun read but not a lot of substance. I read this right after reading the Game of Thrones books, which probably wasn't fair to Riordan!
