I love that this Advent Devotional is not just a devotional but a study of the book of Luke. I enjoyed reading through Luke and doing a Bible study along with it. I never thought about how perfect Luke is for Advent - 24 days leading right up to Christmas on the 25th.
Susie follows the scriptures each day and encourages us to “embrace holy contentment and holy expectancy simultaneously” as we look at the life of our Savior this Christmas. I love how she tied in what she learned from the study of Luke and from other Bible scholars and writers on the book of Luke to guide us to Christmas Eve, so we can end the season, as Mary, “may everything You’ve said about me come true.” And “Help me to love the life You’ve promised me.” May it be.

If you’re looking for an advent book for your 2022 list, may I recommend this one? I love the focus on one Bible passage, with adding in other scriptures then the devotional. I’m also a fan of the quotes used at the beginning because it gave me a deeper look into what the message and focus was to be for the day. The devotions are full of wisdom and points back to the scriptures over and over. At the end, the look up parts were so helpful for me. It gave me something to think about for just that day. It was easy enough to keep the idea in my head as I went about my day. I can’t wait to read this again during the holiday season.
