Omg what a read this book was.

Following her escape from the camp and then subsequent saved from the horrors of being a “freak kid” out in the wild we see ruby begin her journey within the League.
From training to defend herself, to being sent on missions with other colours to support the league and its mission, although she’s not happy, she’s doing what she can to ensure Liam doesn’t get dragged back in.

A large part of this focuses on a sole chip carrying information which Liam accidentally took when his and his brothers paths crossed. From a toxic attempt at the camp of kids from our first book, and another kind of internal war at the league with a vital figures death - safe to say calm is something we are yet to see.

We see the return of Clancy also, along with the burning hatred I Carry for him and I fear we shall continue to suffer with him for a while. Knowing more than he let on, his mission of destruction could be the saving grace for those who survived IAAN.

President gray continues to be tactical in his personal war against those with powers, but as we come to the climax of this book we find this information they’ve all been hunting for could be their saviour.

Overall, I continue to love this weird little dystopia and can’t wait to see where this takes ruby and the surviving league.

If I am going to rank books with cliffhanging ending, then this would be on the top. I even thought for a second that my copy is missing a page. It was just weird how it ended, so my advice is to have the third book on hand when you are reading this book. Thank me later.

This sequel is way better than the first book. The first book for me is so dragging but this is the opposite. There are more things going on and there are plot twists here and there that you cannot just stop reading.

The additional characters in here are icing on a cake. They bring more depth and fun to the story. Their chemistry together is so on point you will just love everyone. Chubs and Vida are my favorite in this book.

The character development is what really enamored me and I just cannot believe these characters are teenagers. It puts as adults in shame LOL.

I actually thought this was better than the first book which is EXTREMELY rare! I thought Ruby's character had grown immensely. She wasn't this naive and innocent girl anymore. She is a jaded, broken, trained warrior. She knows herself better and is in more control of her powers. This was less about romance and teenage angst and about survival. The second book is much darker, and I like it. I also really grew to like the character Vida. At first I wasn't so sure, but she grew on me and was handy with the one liners. Great book. And I look forward to the next in the series!

Read this because Chloe read the first one and once I start a series that is fun like this, I find it hard to stop.

Definitely YA dystopian fantasy but written well enough. Nothing particularly exceptional in here to me except the one existential paragraph buried in the middle. The rest was pacy plot driven shenanigans interspersed with eye rolling teen relationship drama.

I completed The Darkest Minds in January of last year and didn't feel like I needed to re-read the first book to continue the series. That was a mistake. I do generally remember the book and do not think it was my fault for not re-reading. I don't think Never Fade did a good job of recapping The Darkest Minds and was constantly referencing things that it didn't provide context for. Overall a lot of parts confused me.

That does not change the fact that the action and characters in this story are amazing! I loved all the new characters and how they connected with our favorite characters. I've got to read The Wicked King right now or I'll explode, but after that I am definitely getting right to In the In the Afterlight so I don't have the same problem I had here.

THIS BOOK OH MY GOSH THIS BOOK WAS PERFECT! Im not sure which book I liked better but this one was phenomenal. Just amazing. I really did enjoy the new characters. It took me a while to like Vida but now I do. Jude is the cutest thing ever and his relationship with Ruby is adorable! This book had so many things going on, but still made sense. I can't wait for In the Afterlight!

*****SPOILERS*******

THE ENDING OF THIS BOOK OMG I didn't even realize what had happened and I still have not fully accepted like Jude is dead. Nope he's not and he'll be back in book three. Yup that's what's going to happen. AND CLANCY OH MY he's really annoying ugh! AND COLES A RED WHAT?!?!? This book was sooooooo amazing!

****SPOILERS OVER*****

Anyway this book was amazing! 5 out of 5 stars! I loved it and it had a great cliffhanger!

I loved the characters and the action in this second book of TDM series. So much was going on though, that I got confused at times, which might be my own fault. I really liked seeing Ruby struggle but also grow. Reviewers complain about her but I think she is very realistic - someone who had been through what she has wouldn't necessarily be confident, and teenagers don't always make the best decisions. But she's real, and true to herself and tries to protect the people she loves. All the characters are so well-developed and the plot is very intricate. Looking forward to #3.

First of all, I really like this series and the world building. I like Ruby, Liam and Chubs as characters, but this books have some "SECOND BOOK SYNDROME" I feel like a lot happened only to fill the 500 pages... and Vida, although I LOVE this new character I think is too cliche (Tough girl MUST ALWAYS BE TOUGH right?). But I ship Chubs&Vida xD. I like also Cole, and I want to smack Clancy A LOT. I cannot wait for the third book!!
