My favorite so far. The series keeps getting better.

I do have to say Box can write and I have began seeing these as between read snacks, well dried beef perhaps considering the setting of the novels. In this one Joe gets pulled into a dispute between sovereign citizen group (yes those free citizen you run into more and more) and crooked government officials. Or are they crooked or just misinformed?

Also we again get to see Pickett's family more and I do hope this line continues in his books because Box is setting them into the storylines so well: few bits and pieces at a time. And when an awful crime happens against the family we are left to want even more of this family's storyline.

Oh, and there is this new mystery falcon guy called Nate. Sure sometimes we go overboard with the action and happenings but it does not bother me as a reader too much.

Good sense of place—Wyoming—but I probably won’t continue with this series. For one, every woman in the book except the main character’s wife is evil or dumb.

Like the first 2 books in the series, this was a fast paced, entertaining read BUT the writing has become so laughably bad I can't continue. C.J. Box never mises a single chance to tell us how good Joe Pickett is, how great his kids are, how amazing his wife is... and I can't take it any more. The descriptions of the "bad guys" in this book were particularly hilarious as well.
