This was cute to the point of being too saccharine. I enjoyed reading it, but it was a bit much.

A lot happens towards the end of the book so it seems a bit confusing but the ending is sweet.

Meet Me at the Lighthouse is a sweet romance about fulfilling your dreams, falling in love, a offering unconditional support to your partner. I loved the beginning of the book; the flirtatious banter and chemistry between the characters is well written and I got a sense of what it was like to live seaside in their small town. That being said, the last third of the book dragged for me and I felt like the momentous occasion at the end of the book was bogged down through slow pacing and by a secondary character whose over-the-top, washed-up, alcoholic thesbian affect would have been better left out entirely. It made me skim the last couple chapters of the book, when I should have been celebrating with the characters. I understand that this is a rework of a previously published novel, but I think it could have done a bit more with editing down the unnecessary.

“The day I turned twenty-eight, I bought a lighthouse and met the love of my life.”

When Bobbie realized Cragport’s Victorian lighthouse was for-sale she couldn’t not buy it. Especially since it was a staple in the town she grew up and lived in, and it was owned by her grandfather’s best friend ... but most because it was only 1 quid.

The day Bobbie decided to buy the light house she also reconnected with Ross Mason, whose great uncle was the owner of the lighthouse and also the man who held the title for her first kiss. One drunken night, led to Ross sharing his biggest dream and Bobbie deciding to share the space of the lighthouse. They started working together to make the lighthouse a space for the community and along the way they discovered it brought them more, because it brought them to each other.

This book was cute although predictable. But the string of fun, likable and crazy characters that helped Ross and Bobbie along the way, added to the story for me. This was my first novel by Mary Jayne Baker, but I enjoyed reading it.

“There’s something about the sea ... it gets inside you, salt in your veins. It always calls you back in the end.”

Thank you to Netgalley and Aria for this eARC to read and provide an honest review.
