Meh. :/ Not very interesting.

I really liked it! I can't wait for the next book!

Wow. This was the most action packed and thrilling book I've read in a long time. It almost never stopped. I could NOT put this book down.

So, this is kind of a zombie apocalypse story, but definitely not your typical one. These zombies are intelligent. Some of them are just crazy killing machines, but others will pretend to be normal, invite you in for a cup of tea before trying to kill you with the mug, etc. Which made everything a lot more scary for me, because you never know who you can trust. The scenes with people that the characters actually knew before they turned were the creepiest.

The point of view is divided between Michael, Aries, Mason, Clementine, and another character called Nothing. Even though it's pretty easy to figure out who Nothing is. I really liked the way this was set up. Every character starts out in a different place, with different circumstances, and they all go through different troubles. I really liked all the characters, even though I did dislike some of the things a few of them did. Sometimes they had to make a decision between staying alive and doing the right thing. Even though you kind of always want the heroes to be brave and moral, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be brave or selfless at all in their situation, so I can't blame them.

There's not too much romance in this book, a couple of small kisses, but the romance wasn't the main thing. Which makes sense. I'd definitely recommend this, although if you're really squeamish, be warned that there are some pretty gory scenes. Nothing super descriptive, but it's not pretty. Dark Inside is an extremely fast, action packed, and even at times funny read, and I can't wait for the sequel!

THIS IS NOT A ZOMBIE NOVEL. STOP CALLING IT THAT. SHIT, PEOPLE.

There is none of this:

It's more random, senseless acts of violence committed by those who WANT to be violent and KNOW what they're doing.

So, not zombies, people.

Dark Inside was compulsively readable, I was halfway through it before I realized it, and couldn't go to bed without finishing it. I enjoyed the alternating POVs between the 4 core characters, it helped move the story along swiftly.

Though it's not without it's flaws, Dark Inside was a refreshing take on the apocalypse.

A series of massive earthquakes decimate the west coast of the US, while simultaneously explosions, murders and chaos erupt around the world. Something has caused normal people to become vicious murderers, who seem excited and eager to do violence, and the only difference seems to be the veins in their eyes turn black. Hints at demonic influence, or the worst of humanity taking hold. Things were a bit vague at times, and I can see that it was aimed at a younger audience.

Mason's mom is in a fatal car accident, so he's at the hospital when people break into his school and blow it up. Now everyone he's ever cared about is dead.

Aries is on the bus headed back to school when the earthquake hits. Her best friend, Sara, doesn't survive and a stranger, Daniel, tells her to find a place to hide.

Clementine is at an emergency town meeting with her parents, worried about her brother Heath, when two men armed with guns enter the room. Clementine's mother makes her run...before everyone is killed.

Michael is on the road with his buddy Joe when they see a driver purposefully run a motorcyclist down. When the cops come, they kill the driver. Michael and Joe hitch a ride before they're next.

Something is really wrong and as these four teens try to survive in a world that has gone completely crazy. Only one thing is for sure. They won't survive long.

A great dystopia! Hard to put down yet hard to keep going. The story focuses on 5 people and switches from story to story.

The writing itself was pretty great, but there were a lot of things I didn't like about this book. I am unsure whether I will read the next one in the series, and if I do it won't be for a while as I have so many other books I am excited to read.
