i’m not going to lie it’s hard for me to decide whether to give this a 3 or 4 stars rating,,
I really enjoyed the concept of the story, the world building and the mysterious wood fairy tales
the plot was captivating yet left me unsatisfied in some way and i rly wish this could’ve gone deeper into the character and world building (both being equally very charming from the small glimpse one already gets in the book)

in the end it’ll be a 3.5 stars rating from me, but it surely will leave me day dreaming about magical forests and fey beings for a long time

Ok I LOVED EVERYTHING about this

the pacing was wonky and the romance was surprisingly not great but it was cute enough.

This was a cute book, full of all of the things that remind me of the old woods of the PNW. I liked the scene setting, the storytelling, the way the author pushed and prodded Tobias’s character, but I would have asked for a bit more regarding the relationship between him and Henry. Even still, it was a cute, short afternoon read.

4.5 stars! I’ve had this one on my list for YEARS, and I always knew I’d love it. It’s a sweet little fantasy love story between a man who has lived in the forest for a very long time, and a nosy scholar who keeps inviting himself over to his cottage to ask academic questions. Love the difference between the gruff Tobias and energetic Silver. People who love explaining their specific interests is such a cuuuuute thing. Their interactions just made me smile, and the background of the woodland folklore was so intriguing as well. Reminded me of Uprooted in a way, so much nature magic!
