A beautifully written, peculiar novella about an ancient wood and its 400 year old inhabitant. The characters and events of the novella are interesting, but it's let down by poor pacing and a romance that feels shoehorned in. The first half is significantly better than the second in my opinion. Still, I'm looking forward to the second in the duology and I'll be reading it once it's out.

this was a really beautiful fairytale. i read it all in one sitting, and i really feel like it's meant to be read that way. it focuses on the characters and magic of this "hallow," but doesn't;t have much of a plot. if you're looking for something whimsical, eerie, and hypnotizing, i recommend it!

Rounded down from 3.5 Full disclaimer, I'd never heard of the legends of the wild man of the woods before reading this, so maybe I wasn't able to appreciate it properly because of that. What I can say is that the writing here was so lyrical and armospheric, and I adored the depiction of dryads. Unfortunately the story became way too rushed in the latter half and it just...lost me. I'd also never heard of the legend of the green man of the woods and had no idea definitely try something else by this author
