This book was a crazy rollercoaster that had me gripping the pages in anticipation. I was scared and on the edge of my seat and I LOVED EVERYTHING ABOUT IT. The world-building was fabulous and I really liked the characters overall. Definitely recommend.

Долго думала какую оценку поставить, то ли 3, то ли 4... Книга вроде не плохая, несмотря на то, что в целом это довольно типичный янг адалтовый постапокалипсис (но с приплетением sci-fi... биология, химия, программирование, расшифровка генома человека и много-много непонятных слов).
В книге много захватывающего экшена (собственно, который и не даёт оторваться от неё), но под конец стало как-то совсем уныленько. И внезапные пара событий оказались для меня уж очень не внезапными, а вполне предсказуемыми. Поэтому концовка первой книги выглядит скучно и не цепляет, не появилось у меня жгучего желания поскорее узнать, что же там дальше...

- I think I enjoy the characters
- there exists a world outside the city/country where the main character is. This is unusual for dystopias.
- technology is reasonably described
- I did go on to book #2

- a fucking love triangle 😩
- the main character takes on too much responsibility with the “it’s all my fault”

Brilliant!! I was so surprised by this book. I had picked it up at a used book store on a whim because I had a gift card. Next thing I know, I finish it in two days. I just adored the world building in this!! Sometimes with YA dystopia I find that the world building is vague and leaves a lot of questions unanswered, but the world building in this book is so full and detailed. As a biochemistry major, I appreciated the detail in the descriptions of the biotechnology.
And the plot twists!! I could barely put the book down. It was unfortunate that I picked this up so close to the end of the semester, because I really should have been working on some papers. But every free moment, I’ve been glued to this book. Can’t wait to read the next one :)
