Dramatic and twisted, Mercer and Blake are absolutely locked in with each other in this book!
Blake is basically in the family business of being hired (not so legal) muscle/intelligence, and Mercer is the son of an asshole business tycoon that will do anything to make money. It’s lust at first encounter with these two, and Blake very quickly sees Mercer for who he is, and knows exactly what he needs. When Blake finds himself protecting Mercer by keeping him in his own home, their relationship develops into dependency and love. This book is really spicy, as well. Almost too much for me haha.
The reason I enjoyed this book so much was definitely the dynamic between the MCs, as it was so unique, deeply connected, and healing. Blake takes care of Mercer so well, while still respecting him so much. Truly a book boyfriend! I also really enjoyed Mercer’s development through the book. I don’t want to spoil it, but this book is definitely a great read for those reasons.
I do wish that Blake’s character was deeper. He doesn’t really have any flaws or personal challenges at all. His character traits kind of boil down to: perfect boyfriend for Mercer in every way. I wish we’d seen some kind of growth or flaw with him!
The plot of this book was definitely dramatic. There were a lot of great, exciting scenes. Mercer’s commentary also made them 100% better. The only issue for me is that the plot is kind of messy. I felt like the most exciting part of the plot happened at 50%. The rest of the book was still interesting, but a lot of the drama is centred around side characters that you really don’t care about, while our MCs are just adjacently related to it. Then, the epilogue feels like it should have actually been the climax of the book! Book would have been 5 stars if it weren’t for this.
Book is definitely worth a read!

No preamble, lets fuckin gooo.
Yup yup, this was a Nordika Night book for me. 80% character relationships and 20% plot, although I like it. The plot itself was confusing for me especially towards the end when all the revelations were being made. It was all too much at once and I didn't get like half of it.
What I do like though, is how the characters interact. It's genuinely like kind of swoony (I literally notice every time Nordika uses this word.)
I liked that Mercer was straight up an actual brat though. There was ample plot reasons for him to be the way that he is but most of all, he's over the top. It's both annoying and fun. I don't know if you can get second hand annoyance but I was feeling it.
Blake on the other hand reading Mercer like an open book and seeing past his exterior, it's cute. He doesn't encourage Mercer to change but rather funnel his energy into something more productive. It's genuinely heartwarming.
There's a quote that always comes to mind from Holly Black <quote>“Why does anyone want anyone else? [...] We do not love because people deserve it - nor would I want to be loved because I was the most deserving of some list of candidates. I want to be loved for my worst self as well as my best. I want to be forgiven my flaws.”</quote> I feel like this rings true here and in some of Nordika's other books. There's a current of acceptance.
Again, if you're okay with how the ratios are split for characters, smut, and plot, I think this was a fun read. If not, I think Nordika's books may not be for you in general.

I quite enjoyed this bit of ott ridiculousness ngl. And now i'm sorta wondering if I can add flouncing as a Google fit activity, because I most definitely see the value in honouring my inner sassy twink and I'd like to know how many heart points I dominate while prancing around in my teddy and throwing a tantrum
4.5 rounded up.
Now this? This is how you create a brat.
Holy shit did Mercer drive me nuts but it was never so bad I couldn’t stand him. He was absolutely perfect in his brattiness. Him and Dee anyways

Review edited with new and updated content warnings and safety info after second read. Still 5 stars. Filthy greatness, lol.

“Are you gay?” he asks. “No.” “Do you wanna fuck me?” he asks with no shame. “You make my cock hard, but I haven’t decided if your personality turns me off yet.
I’m trying to figure out what to say about this book, and all I can really think of is: It’s just as good as it sounds. A lot of the time you come across books with tropes, tags and kinks that just *speaks* to you, but still end up disappointing you a little, exactly because it sounded too perfect. That honestly wasn’t the case here. It looked perfect, sounded perfect, and it freaking was perfect (for me). This will definitely be a reread, and I’m crossing all my fingers and toes that it’ll be on audio eventually.
Feisty little hoodlum on the streets, lingerie wearing badass in the sheets.
Unlike many others lately, I haven’t read Garron Park or Lot 62 (just not my favorite tropes), but with the way this author writes, I can certainly see why those books are so popular. I can only imagine how well this one will do. I’m in love with her writing. It just flows so well. I had an absolute blast reading it. The pacing felt right, and I got just the right amount of romance (so sweet and good), the right amount of action and suspense (so cool and attention-grabbing), and the perfect amount of spice (so hot and so emotional).
“Tell me how to dominate you while never making you feel like you’re less than me. […]”
Blake is the nicest murderer ever. I think he’s my new favorite book boyfriend. I do love a man who isn’t afraid of his own feelings or showing them, and the way he put himself out there in order to be everything Mercer could ever need absolutely melted my heart. They are a power couple in all the best ways, but without being perfect. I love them. I might be in love with them. I hope everyone who’s intrigued by these tropes and the author adds it to their TBR so they don’t forget about it when release day comes. I don’t know if my recommendations mean much, but as long as this book is safe for you, give it a try.
“Housekeeper?” Blake asks, walking down the hall without a shirt on. As much as I love the view, I’m fucking seething. That body is mine to look at and mine alone. The dagger flies right by his head and sticks into the ridiculous photo of a bunch of piano keys on his wall. He doesn’t even flinch, but he sure as shit smirks deeper. “Morning, demon.” He steals the latte I already stole and yanks his hoodie right off my body and throws it on. He sets a gentle kiss on my sneering lips that feels a lot like a taunt, so I call him a dick and grab a new hoodie from the couch. He steals my spot at the island while I do that.
There’s so much I could gush about with this book, but I need to mention this: There’s plenty of amazing spicy scenes in this, but the one where they finally let go and just.. make love? I goddamn swooned. So emotional, hot, and sweet. Oh x2! I laughed a lot as well, which is always a good sign. Every interaction between Mercer and Dee had me rofl’in.
“I need you to do that thing where you smother me with your body and touch me all over while I sleep.” “You mean cuddle?” I scoff. “No.”
I adored the epilogue.
No buts.
I climb off the couch to pace, calling my dad. As soon as he picks up, I feel Mercer tugging on the back of my shirt, trying not to get in my way, but being clingy because that’s who he is. A boy with abandonment issues and a fear of being alone. I smooth a hand over his hair, showing him he isn’t bothering me.

Other person drama: Early on, they both try to manipulate the other by making each other jealous. Mercer drags Blake to a club, pretending like he’s bringing someone home. He doesn’t. Blake ‘fights back’ by inviting over a former hookup (woman who eventually ends up as Mercer’s friend). She joins Blake in his bedroom but they don’t sleep together. I am giving this 5 stars even though the last 25% draaaaaaags on for a million years (it almost feels like the last part needs its own book). Read this because the rest of it is so amazing. It is fun, violent at times, and sexy all the time.

Little Demon in the Details by Nordika Night ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5
Blake and Mercer are perfect
Really enjoyed this. Blake let Mercer find himself with all the love and support he’s truly needed. The spice was soooooo good. And I loved their connection on every level. Could’ve ended a bit sooner but overall Nordika did a great job!
