4.2 AVERAGE

DNF at 30%. I actually didn’t mind Mercer and his bratty behavior. It actually made the chapters I did get through bearable. Blake and his stoic/broody vibe didn’t bother me either. Idk if it was push and pull or angst, I just got tired of both of them wanting something and waiting for the other do “beg for it.” 13 chapters in, 30% in and nothing.

I have a difficult time phrasing a good opinion of this book.

There were parts, plotwise, that I enjoyed. The way Blake helps Mercer 'rise to the top' made my heart all mushy. Particularly Mercer has many more layers in his character than I'd thought at first. I missed more depth in Blake's character and felt flat at some points.

The side plot about Mercer's family didn't really grip me and mostly towards the ending the pacing slowed down.

If you are looking for suspenseful story that's heavy on the spice, this book is for sure for you.

DID NOT FINISH: 27%

I got like 27% into the book and it's just not for me it seems I thought I would've loved it cause the premise seemed interesting but the writing style isn't for me and I didn't really care for the characters as much but I hope someone else enjoys it

The spice in this book is unreal.

I had read Nordika's Garron Park prior to reading this book and let me tell you, they have an amazing ability to branch out in to multiple different genre styles without breaking a metaphorical sweat!

Blake has been gone a few years, training to be a part of his family in the best way they see fit.

Right when he comes back home he gets hurled in to the tornado of a human that Ben (Mercer) is and it doesn't seem like he can see anything outside of the vortex.

As the story goes on you begin to learn the reasons Mercer is the way he is and the way that Blake learns to love him for every aspect of who he is and wants to be.

What you'll find:

- mental health awareness
- mafia esc vibes
- a man in lingerie, we love em.
- spicy dirty scenes
- brat kink
- arranged marriage (not between MC's)
- forced proximity,
- enemies to lovers

This is a definite suggested read if you enjoy MM romance.

DID NOT FINISH: 85%

I actually really enjoyed the first half to maybe 65ish percent of this book. I love Mercer as a character and think he was really well done. I even cried a couple times.
I tried so hard to finish this book but it just felt like it was never going to end, and it could have ended like 5 times over. It's only 379 pages, but it's honestly just too long in my opinion given the pacing. There were also so many sex scenes it became very redundant, to the point I just kept skipping them because I'd just read one and they were all feeling the same.

Dnf @ 45%. It's always a bummer to not like something that everyone is raving about. But this felt all over the place, and their level of codependency and obsession came from nowhere. I love the trope, but also need it to make at least a little sense.

And so Blake and Mercer happened… and one more book from Nordika to totally make me addicted to her writing!

I absolutely loved this book. The story is so full , the plot is rich and captivating, and the relationship that it develops here? 5 stars baby!

Imagine a sassy brat with serious abandonment issues, whose coping mechanism is sex and bratiness overload (this is Mercer), an assassin with a conscience, and a weekeness called a sexy brat who uses lingerie (this is Blake).
