Thrilling plot and interesting characters, Nordika Night might’ve become another instant-buy author for me. Love how she mixes hurt/comfort, action and a swoony romance.
Mercer and Blake complement each other so perfectly, the mix of brattiness and neediness balanced out by Blake’s dominant vibes was hot and amazing.
The ending kind of dragged a little bit, but that’s probably more of a me problem.
CW and tropes(spoilers):
- Size difference
- MC with eidetic memory
- MC with panic attacks and PTSD
- Lingerie
- Cum play and cum kink
- Cock-warming scene
POV: 1st person, dual
“Blake?” “Yeah, baby.” “Thanks for… seeing me.” He smiles at me, still sweaty and exhausted. “I’ll never stop looking, Mercer.”
I blush like an asshole because holy shit, he’s a romantic murderer.

“Fuck knows how you did it, little demon, but you did.” His lips move against mine, kissing and confessing together. “Did what?” “Made me yours.”

Long winded
I enjoyed parts of this but other parts I skipped as it just felt too long and convoluted.
The story concept was good and loved the characters but the plot and storyline could have been condensed or LOL can't believe I am saying this haha but some of the

A reread. I like it and still enjoyed it but its kinda lengthy. It couldve been shorter though. Found it too wordy but i also enjoyed the plot. The pacing was also good for the book. I love and hate mercer sometimes but his banter and sass was kinda funny. Especially when he is with Dee. But other times the bratiness really grates me. Or maybe becos i wanted to finish the book quickly.
I let that sit in my tbr too long! It was so good! It has a wide range of emotional torment, from those sad emotions to the happy ones to I’m so angry, I wanna be on the B team. And there is so much steamy, sexiness. Just down right hot and dirty. Lots of great banter and snark and brattitude. It was intriguing from the first page. Really sucked me in and wouldn’t let me go (even when I was forced to put it down cause life, I was thinking about Blake and Mercer). Mercer broke my heart, it just ached for the little boy that he was and the poor young man he became. But I adored how Blake treated him. He never wanted to tame the brat or change him. He just wanted to help Mercer and love him. These two were perfect together and their chemistry was off the charts. I was so happy to see the evil side characters get what they deserved. Blake has such a good heart and a decent moral compass for an assassin. Mercer is funny, snarky and ultimately sweet, he just has some trauma to work through. The author does an amazing job putting you through a roller coaster of emotions and leaving you feeling light and happy with the couple.

Love. On my books to re-read list.

Thank goodness. 5 stars because there was a plot, it wasn't painful, it was as spicy as advertised, I didn't hate any of the characters unless I was supposed to, and I didn't notice any typos, grammar issues, or continuity errors. I really need to rate books out of 100, because this is something more like an 85/100, but on a 5 star scale it was far more enjoyable than my 4 star reads, and I think the author deserves that rating within the current ratings structure.

This book was amazing. I was unable to put it down! Mercer and Blake are a force to be reckoned with. Their dynamic and chemistry are a whirlwind that I couldn't get enough of. This book's mix of steamy moments and suspense had me on edge throughout the story.
Mercer, the untamed brat, fearlessly pushes Blake to his limits. Blake, a blend of care and comfort intertwined with his role as a contract killer, will do anything to make Mercer see the value in himself. Mercer's life hasn't been easy, but I admired how he embraced his true self, largely due to Blake's unwavering support. He yearned for acceptance, and Blake recognized and embraced him without hesitation.
The culmination of Mercer's journey to justice against his family was so satisfying and well deserved. The side characters were great additions; I hope they get their book soon! I loved everything about this book; while some kinks may not be for everyone, I couldn't get enough.

Dramatic and twisted, Mercer and Blake are absolutely locked in with each other in this book!
Blake is basically in the family business of being hired (not so legal) muscle/intelligence, and Mercer is the son of an asshole business tycoon that will do anything to make money. It’s lust at first encounter with these two, and Blake very quickly sees Mercer for who he is, and knows exactly what he needs. When Blake finds himself protecting Mercer by keeping him in his own home, their relationship develops into dependency and love. This book is really spicy, as well. Almost too much for me haha.
The reason I enjoyed this book so much was definitely the dynamic between the MCs, as it was so unique, deeply connected, and healing. Blake takes care of Mercer so well, while still respecting him so much. Truly a book boyfriend! I also really enjoyed Mercer’s development through the book. I don’t want to spoil it, but this book is definitely a great read for those reasons.
I do wish that Blake’s character was deeper. He doesn’t really have any flaws or personal challenges at all. His character traits kind of boil down to: perfect boyfriend for Mercer in every way. I wish we’d seen some kind of growth or flaw with him!
The plot of this book was definitely dramatic. There were a lot of great, exciting scenes. Mercer’s commentary also made them 100% better. The only issue for me is that the plot is kind of messy. I felt like the most exciting part of the plot happened at 50%. The rest of the book was still interesting, but a lot of the drama is centred around side characters that you really don’t care about, while our MCs are just adjacently related to it. Then, the epilogue feels like it should have actually been the climax of the book! Book would have been 5 stars if it weren’t for this.
Book is definitely worth a read!
