This is one if not the best memoir I’ve ever read. Not only is the writing itself compelling, but the story is hard to read and important to tell. Absolutely massive trigger warnings in this one for abuse and eating disorders, though if you find yourself in a space where you can read this content, I think it’s so powerful

I held off on reading this memoir, despite numerous recommendations, as I was reluctant to read about some of the harder topics this book covers. The short chapters read like glimpses of memory and I found that structure allowed for a
lighter covering of challenging issues without glossing over them.

I don’t think it’s the must-read some claim it to be, if you’re not able to handle the topics in this book, you’re not missing out if you don’t read it, but it is an interesting insight into a young life that is unique in some ways, but universal in others.

WOW. Hard to put down, but also trigger warnings: sexual abuse, emotional abuse and eating disorders.

A well written easy to read memoir. The stories were sometimes hard to read because of the nature of them. Coming from someone struggling to handle familial ties, it really struck a cord.

Wow — this was an extremely devastating and mortifying memoir, with much needed (dark) humor mixed in, which you definitely need in a book like this. Jenntette not only lets you peek into her life, but hold the magnifying glass for you and I applaud her for even being able to write this book, because honestly I’m not sure I’d have the guts too. I’m happy by the end she’s able to really start working through all her stuff.
