There wasn’t anything that really stood out for me in the book, but I did enjoy reading it regardless. Some chapters were really brief and always ended in a somewhat cliffhanger, and although it is kind of overplayed, it definitely kept me reading.

Since it is a series, I want people to take this review with a grain of salt as I never truly realize how much I love a series until I’ve read all of the books. So, although I wasn’t *obsessed* with this book, it is only a part of the story so please hold off on all judgement until the end!

Kinda your classic young adult novel with the quintessential love triangle and the much needed secret passages. I appreciated all of the puzzles in the book and I definitely want to know what happens next. Nothing special, but not bad by any means.

Although I do appreciate Avery’s willingness to be more than just a piece to the puzzle.

3-3.5ish. This book was fast-paced and exciting, but I couldn’t help but wish that everything was a bit more detailed and fleshed out. There was certainly a lot of content and plot to fit into the book, but I had a hard time keeping track of which brother was which and often felt a lot of the characters were a bit underdeveloped. Also would have loved more details about the mansion - I mean a billionaire’s mansion on a sprawling estate filled with libraries, secret rooms, and hidden passageways is such cool setting that I felt didn’t get quite enough attention.
