Loved the vast majority of the book, but something in the final portion left me wanting. Still worth reading - the book is fun and engrossing. It was exciting to see the story unfold. Plus, I enjoyed getting to try to guess the outcome and/or solutions to mysteries and puzzles central to the plot right along with the characters of the book. I found a few of the explanations superfluous and uninventive, but can’t articulate why.

This book is smarter than me. I would have no ideas how to comprehend this if it wasn't explained out for me. It's an awesome book and I recommend

The Inheritance Games is about a girl whose life is completely changed when a billionaire disinherits his family and leaves his estate to her, leaving the girl and his family with a million questions. He leaves behind clues for her and his grandsons to solve- a treasure hunt that they hope ends with them finding answers as to why. As she tries to solve the game, she finds herself falling for two of the grandsons and at the same faces a threat to her life from aggrieved family members.

Loved the concept but the execution was poor. The pace of the book was very fast and as such, felt that we only met the characters at a superficial level. The book focussed more on the love triangle than solving the game and the love triangle was bland. Avery just met them and fell hard and fast- there was no build up to it. Usually with YA love triangles, I'm hooked but in this case, both characters were dull. There was no intrigue.

Although the the game was initially exciting, after a while it became repetitive. The riddles were the same thing over and over. The writing was mediocre with large parts of the book being the narrator repeating in her head the conversations she had with others. This works when it's done once or twice for emphasis but it happened every few pages!

Apparently there's 4 books in the series which just seems unnecessary to me. That being said, I'm all in for the second as it ended with a good cliffhanger and was an easy read. This book could make for a good TV show.
