I think this is my favorite book in this series so far! I wasn't expecting most of the story to be focused around Pippa, but I actually really liked that it was. Her development from book one has been incredible to watch and I really like where this story took her. There was so much happening, but it didn't feel overwhelming. I also feel like this provided even more insight into the world this series has. This is quite a vague review, but as the third in a series it would be hard to mention things without spoiling them. I really enjoyed it and I'm so curious and excited for how it will conclude!

This series has been a bit of an uneven journey for me because I always felt like Ahdieh took the story in the opposite direction from what I wanted.

But here in this book, we finally agree.

Four of these stars are pretty much for Arjun Desai, let's be honest - this dude has suffered so much - but the final star is for the fact that while nothing major really happens in terms of action for most of this book, there is the sinister loaded tension of something big about to happen. And that atmosphere, combined with the increasing intrigue of fey politics, and a much darker undercurrent of war and torture, launch this book into one that is a compelling way to propel this world and story forward.

I think Ahdieh's melding of different stories and current topics and diversity are done so well in these characters and the conversations they have in this story. And though I didn't love Pippa at first, she definitely grew on me.

Thoroughly looking forward to the last book! In the acknowledgements Ahdieh acknowledges how difficult this book was to write in the pandemic and with all the other stressful events of the year, including becoming a new mom. I think this is one of her best to date.

Gave up on it, story line got a little tedious in this one. I wanted to like it.

I love this series but this book was definitely not my fav out of all of them.

Fuuuuuuuuuck.
Celine. I love her. I do. But if she goes through those mirrors just when Arjun & Pippa have found themselves with each other, I will RIOT.

I couldn’t put this one down! I need the final book asap!
This 3rd book of the series was by far my favorite so far, there are so many twists and turns and the story we get with pippa, I love it!!!

3.5 stars!

Renee Ahdieh really impresses me normally - I've read all of her works so far. The Righteous was a treat, but it wasn't the direction I was anticipating. I wish I enjoyed it more, but I am kind of neutral.

Celine and Bastien are totally wack compared to Arjun and Pippa. A much better story in this book than the first 2!
