I enjoyed this book- thought I had it partially figured out- maybe I did, maybe only kind of- will definitely read any more in the series

Though the central mystery of this book may be a bit weak, I was intrigued by the groundwork the author laid for the larger story arc and am interested to see where that's going. Big spoilers behind tag.

I'm really tired of mystery/thrillers relying on mental illness as a plot device, and I was dismayed to see it here. I thought this book tried to go for a more empathetic depiction, but that doesn't change the fact that it still did employ mental illness as a plot device.

It was…fine. Pretty standard crime novel. There were some pretty unrealistic parts to the story that I would normally overlook but I found them annoyingly outlandish. There are two more books in this series. I was engaged in the story enough that I wouldn’t be against picking those up to see what O’Sullivan is up to next.
