3.25 - liked it
This book follows omega Stellan Mackey, underground boxer. Stellan grew up with fellow omega Elise and was in a relationship with her—that is, until she found her pack and left him.
A year later after barely having spoken to Elise, he finds himself injured and brought into her pack home. But this time, Elise is determined not to let him go. She wants him to join her pack, even though having two omegas in a pack is unheard of. And Stellan slowly reconciles himself to it, because he missed the hell out of Elise, and he doesn't mind her pack so much either.
I liked this book. I liked Elise's alphas generally (wasn't the biggest fan of Greyson tho). Elise herself was alright. But I really liked Stellan. He was tough, sexy, bold, and determined to help Elise because he loved her. He wasn't the demure, innocent omega that I've vaguely come to expect of this series, and that was really nice.
This book is a long one, and yet I don't quite feel like it was long enough. Like I wish that there had just been more on Stellan's interactions with the alphas(like we didn't really get to see him and Jackson together) , more of him accepting his place in the pack. And then the heat lasted 0.5 seconds, and I happily would have read like 20 more pages of hot heat sex, yanno? Heats are like a week long in the Sweetverse and I feel like it was a day in this book?
There wasn't a huge conflict in this book to be solved, and I actually didn't mind that. There doesn't anyways need to be some sort of grand betrayal. But I wish, again, since there wasn't some grand conflict, that there had just been more on Stellan and the alphas.
Overall, I liked the book. It fits well in the Sweetverse, and I look forward to continuing reading the rest of the series.

It was entertaining! However, not much happened in the 54 chapters of this story. There was no real plot, just vague events that never lead anywhere or to any character development. I believe it could have been shortened but it was not a bad book!
Not what I imagined
So fighting instincts was an exactly what I thought it should have been I guess. Like I didn't love it I didn't like it but I didn't not like it I just felt Meh about it. Like I felt like the characters weren't really explored enough and we were just kind of given like a specific detail that made them the person they were like Nile's was a entertainment agent, Art was an artist Jackson was a doctor Greyson was a like P.I. I feel like we got a bunch of stuff but like also nothing at all. And then like the story was confusing of whose story was it was, is it Stellan story or elise's story like it was just really confusing cuz I felt like yeah it's more of a joint story than specifically about Stellan. Like they didn't want him to feel like an addition to the pack but that's literally what he was im pretty sure, well that's how he came across at least to me. I wanted to like Elise's character but like I just didn't I liked Niles a little bit Arturo seemed to be fun Jackson was adorable I don't know something about Grayson just didn't sit with me. Like I get it two omegas and four Alphas but one of the alphas is only a bonded alpha 2 one of the omegas so it's like a solo couple inside of a pack I don't know I just I don't know how I felt about it whatever. I just feel like this story definitely still kind of put Stellan on the back burner. So yeah not my favorite book definitely my least favorite in the Omega very sweet verse series two out of five stars
