I’m obsessed… this book was EVERYTHING. I don’t normally love second chance romances but Kandi absolutely killed it with this book. I loved this series overall but this book just hit different — definitely my new favorite.

Kandi Steiner crushed the second chance romance trope out of the park with this one. The tension between Leo and Mary has been building since she and Julep moved in next door, and this book was everything that I wanted it to be and more.
I adored their backstory, albeit its a little unrealistic that Leo was so crushed that he was completely clueless to the hell that Mary's life had become in high school, but I digress. I loved that they had the sweet, innocent connection from their past and that they really were always meant to be together.
And after the heaviness of Quarterback Sneak, this was a lot of fun. It was banterful and sexy and complete with so many found family moments that my heart was absolutely bursting.
My only complaint was the third act. I understand Mary wanting Leo to respect her and trust that she can take care of herself but me personally, I would've gladly let Leo beat the hell out of that guy. He was exactly who Leo pegged him as from the start, and he deserved it. As proved in the epilogue.
It's a fantastic "end" to the series. I believe at the time of this being published, the plan was for this to be the end, but now we're getting Kyle's story this summer, and I can't wait to see my favorites all together again 💙

Such a cute wrap up to this series. I think this was probably my 2nd favorite of them.
I loved both of the characters & how the entire story unfolded. It was slightly predictable .. but I mean, what romcom isn’t

4.5 ⭐️ that was dang near perfect. I loved them so much.
The backstory was so cute but heartbreaking. I loved how they came back from it and became friends somewhere along the way.
The drama that cause them to separate for awhile was a little underwhelming but once Mary explains why she felt the way she did and why it happened it made more sense.
The epilogue was amazing. Seeing all our couples from this series! I loved the girl gang coming back together and their Group FaceTime’s
“Where are you off to?” I asked. “I’m sorry, are you my daddy now?” “In every single one of my dreams.”
“You were once before and you don’t even remember!”
“I’ve never felt anything for anyone else but you—even when I didn’t know it was you all along. You’re fucking it for me.”
“I don’t think my story will be as light as yours.” “So, let me sit in the darkness with you.”

This is one of those series that I’m so sad it’s over. I don’t want to say goodbye to this family of characters, I don’t want to think about not reading a story from them. The couples, the friendships, the camaraderie of the team, I just don’t want to let one inch of it go.
What I loved:
1. Leo. I didn’t think it could be done, and I don’t know that I can eliminate clay, but they are definitely tied for the top spots. Leo loves so hard and his soul just seems so genuine. I loved every single thing about this man.
2. Mary was such a unique character. I loved that she owned who she was, fought for every single inch of herself, and I loved her reflection on what happens to her in the story.
3. The plot was so good, pacing fabulous, and the steam. My god, that first scene almost took me all the way out. Kandi really said, I saved the best for last in allllll the ways.
4. Seeing the girls and the guys together as friends. My heart about exploded.
5. The epilogue. Put a fork in me, I’m done. I felt so freaking emotional, like I was leaving friends too.
This standalone series was just PERFECTION. A must read.
