Hail Mary is the fourth book in the Red Zone Rivals series and I read it in one sitting. It is a part of the series but can be read as a standalone. I didn't read the previous books because they weren't really my cup of tea, but I read the description of this one and I was sold.

This is a football romance filled with tropes like forced proximity, childhood crush to heartbreak to second chance, and a bit of enemies to lovers from our FMCs POV. The plot is filled with swoon-worthy moments that will make you squeal and blush like a teenage girl. The relationship between Mary and Leo is so wholesome and does have its ups and downs.

The one thing that bothered me in the book was how we didn't see the characters play video games together. Yes, the playing of them was mentioned but there was always a bit of a time skip to when they finished playing.

Overall, this book was a great pallet cleanser from my hockey romance era. It is worth reading and does have a bit of spice in it.

Perhaps it's because I feel like I am in a rut with indie romances or I'm becoming dead inside, but I thought this was alright.

I haven't read an indie romance that I 100% loved, and that is a bit disappointing.

I did like this one more than Blind Side. I thought it was a decent second-chance/enemies-to-lovers romance. I enjoyed the development of their relationship. I thought the third act conflict was meh. It was weak, and I felt like Leo's actions didn't justify the reaction.

How is this the last book of the series? What happens with Blake? And Kyle? And Braden?

I mean ... Are we going to get their stories? With that mental breakdown over I just want to say it was a good book.

Spoilers. ..

The 3rd act break-up was meh. But it didn't take from the rest of the book. I loved how Leo grovelled for his past mistakes and how Mary forgave him (although he had no clue about what he did).

Ok. I am still upset. Are we going to get Kyle's story?

I so so enjoyed this,
second chance, bully, polar opposites, sports romance, roomates

I had trouble getting into this one but there was a lot to enjoy once I did!
I liked how characters from first three books showed up.
I liked the back story of the MCs.
3.5 stars. I might have expected a bit more?! Loved the female MC and all the tattoo shop plot!
