Read this as a little palette cleanser from all the other books I have been reading lately and I might have to read the other books now

3⭐️- Not quite sure how I feel about this one. Some elements of the plot seemed a little unrealistic for me. I did like the fmc and mmc together once they communicated and worked through their past. The third book in series is still my favorite.

I read this in a span of hours. HOURS!
Once I started, I couldn’t put it down, I absolutely devoured it.

I think the miscommunication set up between Leo and Mary when they were teenagers was done really well. You could understand why Mary was angry and upset with Leo. The way the characters acted made sense and I was intrigued how they would interact once the miscommunication was resolved. I also liked how the forced proximity/roommates trope played out. I loved how the other players accepted Mary and treated her like a sister. Plus the close proximity added tension to the romance which is always a plus. There is a third act breakup (so be warned) but I felt it wasn’t misplaced and made sense for the story.

The romance is a delicious slow burn filled with sexual tension, banter and mutual pining. There’s plenty of angst and will they/won’t they to keep the reader turning the pages to see what’ll happen next. I think the pacing was a great choice and made the moment when their sexual tension snapped that much better. I also loved Mary and Leo’s banter. It was clever, cute and funny. I also loved them teasing each other (the kitchen scene!). Leo is so gone for Mary from the moment he meets her. He’s definitely for the girlies who love a boy obsessed. I also liked that Mary made Leo work for her forgiveness.

The romance was sweet and the sex scenes were steamy! My favorite was their first time (it was so hot! *phew*).

Oh! I also thought the tie-in with the title was super clever.

Overall, I lost sleep because I needed to read this all in one sitting. If that’s not a sign that I loved it I don’t know what is.

Rating: 5/5

All the thanks to @kandisteiner and @valentine_pr_ for the advanced reading copy of Hail Mary, receipt of which did not impact my review.

This is the last book in the Red Zone Rivals series - say it ain’t so, Kandi! And she saved the best for last, in my opinion. If you’ve read Quarterback Sneak (book three), Mary and Leo seem like the unlikeliest of pairs. Mary is a bad-a$$ tattoo artist and gamer and Leo is the cocky, playboy football player. They are in the same friend circle now, thanks to Mary’s former roommate, Julep, and QB1 Holden getting together. After water damage at her rental, Leo offers Mary to stay with him and his teammates/roommates temporarily while everything gets fixed.

This book had all the angst, all the banter, all the solid friendships, and all the slow-burn to spice. It was Kandi Steiner at her very best! I stayed up way too late over the weekend to finish it.

“You don’t own me.”
“Oh, but I do, cariño. And you own me, too.”

This book is so very cute

I was able to read it so fast and enjoyed the whole book

I related to the girl when she experienced rejection and even anticipated rejection because of her looks

I love reading about a plus size main characters as it makes me feel seen and more in touch with the book

Their banter was everything

Beautiful story full of up and downs sure to bring all the emotions. The spice is on fire! An interconnected stand alone (my absolute favorite). If you want a story of growth, love, and body positivity then is is for you.
