Ah Jean. Another Cabot Girl whose adventures I thoroughly enjoyed.
Jinx was a fun, flirty read.

Awesome book. :D

This book lacks the cleverness and cuteness that I generally associate with Meg Cabot's work. The whole witchcraft aspect is a bit ridiculous and trite.

I'd actually give this one a 3.5/5⭐️. Totally cute, although the FMC does that Meg Cabot thing of point-blank refusal that the MMC likes her (and it's super obvious the whole time that he does). I wish there'd been a little more weight to the whole thing, but it was enjoyable and worth the listen for sure.

I love Meg Cabot books. She always has a strong female lead who isn't the most popular girl and isn't the teen runway model girl and isn't trying to be. She is a smart girl who is capable of handling herself in almost any situation. That trend continues in Jinx, the new Meg Cabot book to be released in August 2007.

I don't know, really. Good but it's not the most good from Meg Cabot.

Quick, easy read. The characters were a lot of fun and the whole story was very well put together. Reminded me of the old(ish) movie The Craft.

This was something. Makes me sad that I haven’t been enjoying the Meg Cabot books I’ve tried recently cause I used to love her books.

This one was a little confusing. I thought we were reading a book about a girl with bad luck (or she thinks she has bad luck) but at some point witchcraft was involved but was it really?? Like her cousin accused her of being a witch and wanting her to join her coven and she was like what in the world are you talking about but then next thing I know she’s like I put a binding spell on you so you can’t do black magic and I was just like girl wtf are you talking about I thought you thought she was crazy???

Pretty much the only character I enjoyed was Petra and she was just like the nanny. Petra I hope good things happened for you and that you get everything you ever wanted.

“I nodded. I don't think I could have spoken if I'd wanted to. Not because my cousin had just tried to kill me. But because Zach had rushed down to rescue me without remembering to put a shirt on."

This quote sums up the mood of the book, teenage girl gone crazy for good looking boy, but with a bit of witch craft thrown in. Jean also know as Jinx due to her dreadful luck is about to have her blood spilt and drank by her cousin Tory and all Jean can think about is the fact that her rescuer is not wearing a shirt.

Jean and Tory are descendents of a great-great-great-great grandmother who had been a powerful witch who was burnt at the stake. Before she died she prophesied that one of her descendants would possess the powers of a powerful witch.

Bad girl Tory wants the power to be hers, but when she realizes Jean has the power and does not want to join Tory's play coven Tory is bent on destroying Jean.

It takes an agonizingly long time to find out why Jean has come from Iowa to live with her Aunt and Uncle's family in New York, but eventually all the details are provided, though it is fairly easy to guess that Jean had cast a spell that backfired.

Younger teens will probably enjoy this book, but it definitely is cheesy in plenty of sections. Jean just cannot help gushing over good looking Zach who is Tory's next door neighbor and love interest. Zach, however, is interested in Jean and not Tory, so this creates even more conflict between Tory and Jean. In the end all is well and the good witch wins over the bad witch.

Another cute title by Cabot. Jinx has the worst luck! Things don't even improve when she moves to New York, and goes to a new school. Does it maybe have to do with the fact that she's a witch?
