Tempting Promises is an incredibly fun enemies to lovers, rivalry, forbidden love/sisters ex, forced proximity, only one bed small town romance.
Rowan Whitlock and Charlotte Sullivan own farms next to one another, but their mutual hate goes far beyond their business rivalry. After going on a few dates with Charlotte's sister, rumor states that Rowan broke her heart, ultimately causing her to leave town. After years of Charlotte hating Rowan on her sister's behalf, the rumors are turning out to be untrue. Rowan is not at all who she thought he was, and their days stranded together in a shack through a snowstorm make it harder for her to resist him.
Corinne Michaels creates a beautiful conflict and story arc for these two. Between Rowan and Charlotte chasing the same contract for their farms and the lies spun about Rowan by Charlotte's sister, the story remains engaging and gripping throughout the book.
I am loving the way this series is unfolding!

Rowan Rowan Rowan hot damn. Talk about a dirty talker 🥵 I am SWEATING! The banter between Rowan and charlotte was top tier. Charlotte annoyed me in the beginning but I think it’s because I didn’t really understand why the way she was. I was soooooooo irritated by her sister aurora though she was so vindictive and selfish. But the enemies to lovers with a sprinkle of forced proximity was chefs kiss. I loved every single part of it. And when the sexual tension finally exploded and I mean EXPLODED it was sooooooooo good. And Rowan showing charlotte that not everyone leaves was so heartwarming. Asher was my favorite but idk I think Rowan definitely tied for 1st place.
Friends, I LOVED. Every. Single. Thing about this book, all of the stars!
This is book 3 in the Whitlock Family series and it follows Rowan and Charlotte. They are neighbors and have competing dairy farms. Rowan also dated Charlotte's sister and that ended badly and is the reason Charlotte does not like Rowan. She also hates that she finds him attractive. When a group trip ends with Rowan and Charlotte stuck in a hunting cabin alone for days, they give into the tension and attraction between them just one time. And then one more time. And then one more time. And then for weeks later.
If you have been around here for a while then you know one of my favorite things in books is banter. The banter in this book is chef's kiss good. The bickering between these two was the absolute best. Rowan likes to pretend he is a playboy who doesn't care about anything, but he is the sweetest man. He has a great relationship with his family and his niece, which just gave me heart eyes every time they were together in this book. He is flirty and funny and I had a stupid grin on my face the whole time I was reading this.
Charlotte holds her own against Rowan, he is the one person who can get under his skin and it is so much fun. Charlotte struggles through this book and I really feel for her. She has been alone, trying to keep her family farm running that she finds it hard to accept help when it is offered to her. Rowan has to work hard to break down those walls, but he is patient and he is just keeps showing up for her 🫠.
The chemistry, the tension, and the spice all were excellent in this book. This is by far my favorite book in this series and I have enjoyed them all. I am excited for Brynlee's story next, a 1 paragraph synopsis has made me wish it was here now!

This one didn’t hit for me. There was something that just didn’t gel with me on this one but maybe I just loved the previous book so much. Still worth the read, but not making any special list for this year.

Rowan has been on Charlotte's shit list ever since he allegedly cheated on her older sister. Doesn't help that he is also constantly stealing from her - buying the land that she wanted for her farm, buying the steer that she needed for her farm and now they are both in competition for the same contract that could both do amazing things for their farm if they are awarded the contract. However after being forced to share a cabin for 5 days during a storm both of them are seeing each other differently and can't seem to stay away from each other.
Rowan and Charlotte were so much fun. When Corinne said the banter in this one was top notch she was not lying. I was smiling and laughing throughout this whole book. I couldn't get enough of them. I think my favorite part though was that even once they started falling for each other and they both realized it, they kept up with it and didn't change who they were. It was truly fun.
