An absolutely perfect conclusion to the Chestnut Springs series!!

Beau Eaton, once the town's golden boy, is now lost and frustrated. He walks around angry, feeling adrift, while his family and the well-meaning folks in town tiptoe around him. Enter Bailey Jansen. Bailey is an absolute gem, but her life hasn't been easy. Her father and brothers are infamous in town, and despite her tireless efforts and hard work, she's unfairly grouped with her deadbeat family.

The way people mistreat Bailey, just because she's a Jansen, is heart-wrenching. Her desire for respect, something everyone should have, people's cruelty toward her, based solely on her last name, is both infuriating and deeply moving.

Beau is definitely naive about the town's harsh realities and gets a wake-up call from Bailey. She shows him that Chestnut Springs is not as welcoming as he'd like to believe. Even as his fiancée, Bailey doesn't catch a break she deserves. She also forces him to be honest with himself and his family about his struggles and desires. Beau empowers Bailey to stand up for herself and becomes the first person to truly love her and that is so beautiful and heartbreaking. That she had to wait 22 years for this

Beau Eaton is local hometown veteran hero who is struggling with PTSD following a traumatic injury in the line of duty. Bailey is a local bartender and the town pariah - namely due to her family's reputation. Beau is convinced that her last name is not preventing her from being successful in town so he offers her a bet - take his last name and prove him wrong. This arrangement benefits both of them, she gets to separate herself from her toxic family and his family will stop worrying about him. Although this was supposed to be a temporary, pretend engagement, lines are blurred.

This was another unlikely pairing with a character that was only mentioned in passing in previous books. The age gap wasn't the worse but I preferred the age gap with Willa and Cade - Bailey was a tad bit too young and inexperienced. However, I still really enjoyed this book and loved Beau - he was troubled but well intentioned. This was my least favorite pairing in the series but still a great addition.

First of all I want to say that I was scared of reading this book because I’ve read mixed reviews on it and I really loved the previous ones
