I love this story! I especially loved Auxiliary…monotoned conscience with his both sarcastic and funny retorts and brilliant sacrifice! I wish he could’ve come back, but in a way I’m satisfied with him gone…and the picture we are given of Zellion’s view as he flags down the ship…new adventures are on the horizon!
I have to say Mr. Brandon Sanderson does not cease to amaze me through his storytelling. I truly feel like being taken to a whole new world when I read them. From dessert caverns and canyons in the Stormlight Archive to the mighty seas with a girl who has an obsession for cups looking for her true love!
The only spoiler I will say is you Must read at least the secret projects! I know Brandon did it to experiment on and did it for his wife and to prove himself…but it’s really nice he felt he wanted to present us his faithful readers young and old this great story!
Lastly I agree in the end letter to us…books don’t come alive until they are read..then they come alive in us when we talk to people about them!

Another really exceptional one off in the Cosmere by Brandon Sanderson. What I found most interesting about his one is how different it was from almost all other Sanderson novels I have read. Elantris, Warbreaker, and almost every other book from him that I’ve read are pretty slow paced and intricate. This book is just as intricate but is a breakneck pace. I found it quite refreshing to have such an action-packed book as usually I read more intrigue and plotting fantasy. Sandersons characters are as amazing as usual and there is delightful character development as usual. I also enjoyed that this book had some fun scientific elements added in. How the whole world functioned was greatly interesting for me and one of the highlights of the book. As usual his worldbuilding is immaculate, and its amazing how many ideas he has for unique worlds and places. For a one off the culture and mechanics are beautifully intricate yet still intertwined with the greater Cosmere. In general, this does truly feel like a love letter to fans. I am trying to think of flaws at the moment, but I can’t, maybe ill find some on a second read through but right now I have thoroughly enjoyed it. I cant wait to read the rest of this suite of books he wrote for Kickstarter. TLDR: a really really fun book which is classic Sanderson in all the rights ways, while experimenting with the formula in a way that only improves, another classic for me.
Another stellar standalone from the goat.
This book talks a lot about the nature of investiture and covers some of the logic of the magic system found all across the Cosmere. One of the great things about investiture is that it allows the reader to experience wonder and mystery about the "new" magic systems you encounter across Sanderson's work, while also being able to tie all of it back together in an explainable way.
Anyway, not a great starting point if you're new to Sanderson (try Mistborn), but a must read for a fan of the Cosmere.

I ate up all of the Cosmere references (chapter 39 - OMG). I will say that I HIGHLY advise you to finish the entirety of The Stormlight Archive, including Dawnshard) and also Warbreaker, because they play major parts on this story and I promise you’ll enjoy it much better when you can reference all of that! :)
I love this character (Nomad) so, so much and kind of figured out who he was from all the clues early on, but I still squealed when it was confirmed.
