Enjoyed the book and read in one sitting
+ Good characters and their development
+ Mysteries
+ Lessie as FMC
+ Ending makes you want to move on to the text book immediately
- Loche as MMC fell a bit flat for me
- Writing was bit messy at times

Writing felt a bit confusing at times, and I had to go back and reread several paragraphs to understand what was happening. Overall, the book's pace felt slow, and the relationship between Loche and Lessia felt a bit forced because of how quickly they developed feelings. I didn't feel too excited to finish the book because I was waiting to see more of Merrick, whom I was more interested in. The characters didn't feel thoroughly developed and were lacking substance. There was a lot of growling and snarling which threw me off. There was a lot of focus on the regent election that was to take place in the first half of the book, but by the second half the focus was turned to interpersonal relationships between the characters. The author focused too much on plot points that I wasn't as interested in and not enough on the ones I think should have been more fleshed out. FMC had a lot of blind trust for someone who portrays herself as not very trusting and it felt inauthentic. It seems like some events/scenes were thrown in haphazardly to tie up some loose ends and didn't really fit well within the story itself.
