The first book was amazing, this one not so much. Zélie was só whiny that make me sick. Tzaine was missing for almost the whole book. And I love grey moral characters, but I drew the line in gennocide. How to come hack from that? Röen was the only salvation and that was because he said some hard thuths to Zélie. It was about time.

As much as I love this world and these characters, Zélie, Amari & Inan have to be the most exhausting and frustrating main characters ever! None of them can get out of their own heads! So stubborn and self deprecating! 🤣 I want to smack them all! … mom problems! But I really really want to see good things for them!! Fingers crossed for book 3!

A perfect sequel to the first, the last 100 pages had me sobbing at multiple parts, thinking about the analogies to our world while still connecting with the characters.  I cannot wait to delve into the third!!!

"Children of Virtue and Vengeance" by Tomi Adeyemi is a must-read for any young adult fantasy lover. In this sequel to "Children of Blood and Bone," Adeyemi weaves a captivating tale of magic, power, and resilience that keeps readers on the edge of their seats from beginning to end. The rich African mythology and intricate world-building make for a truly immersive reading experience.

This book is a thrilling continuation of Zélie, Amari, ans Inan's journey, filled with heart-pounding action and emotional moments that will tug at your heartstrings. Adeyemi's writing is powerful and poignant, making this book a standout in the genre. I highly recommend "Children of Virtue and Vengeance" to anyone looking for a gripping and thought-provoking read.

Decent second book, a little bit hungover as I read it so quickly. Really excited for the third book and will give the movie adaptation a shot.

I was so bored with this book. I’m usually less thrilled with the second book in a series but this felt like a waste of time. The same thing happened over and over. There was no development in the characters and they were all incredibly stubborn and unlikeable. What happened?? Book 1 was soo good.

The setting and mythology of this series is still so fascinating to me, but this book seemed so unnecessary. It just went back and forth between the main characters trusting each other, getting burned, not trusting each other, getting burned - & then repeat 10 times. It was repetitive and I found Zéilie more annoying than in the first book.

"Children of Virtue and Vengeance" continues the saga of Zélie and Amari as they struggle to restore peace to Orïsha, a land now torn by civil war following the return of magic. Zélie must navigate political intrigue and deadly battles while forming uneasy alliances to overthrow a tyrannical regime. Amidst personal sacrifices and shifting loyalties, the protagonists face challenges of leadership and the cost of power.

Dang, for me this was a let-down after the 1st book. I had to work hard to finish it, it just felt like it was very repetitive.
It would have had 2 stars BUT it got THREE because Bahni Turpin was the narrator. She is one of the best narrators out there!!
