This was one scorching read! Some of it was a bit repetitive but it all worked together really well and Shayla Black is excellent at setting a scene. I could perfectly picture the swamp cabin and Morgan's features as so lovingly described by Jack. The adversity they faced felt realistic enough and while there was some dramatics at the end, I felt they were well deserved. Very emotional read, all things considered. Looking forward to more in this series!

I love the book.. however, the fact that she would question every thing about to happen whether she should do it or not then end up doing it anyway was a little much

ok.... I liked it. I found the ending/apology a little too brief and rushed but other than that, I like the pace of the story and the characters.
If you're looking for a book where the woman is having to combat her fear of admitting to her desires while the man is pushing her past her sexual limits, this is your read. The scenes are very explicit and there is a good solid groundwork in taking the stigma out of BDSM. Bear in mind that this is an older novel written when BDSM wasn't as mainstream as it is now. You may get a little annoyed at how long it takes the couple to be completely honest with one another but it is still a hot read.
Really enjoyed, debating if I want to commit to this series or not.
Morgan O'Malley is running - both from her own secret desires and a dangerous stalker. Leaving California for Texas seemed the perfect solution to hiding from the man stalking her. But when he finds her at a lunch meeting with Jack Cole, her dangerous stalker turns absolutely lethal.
Jack Cole has waited years for his revenge, and the perfect opportunity finally arrives in the form of the beautiful Morgan when he meets with her to discuss BDSM for an episode of her sex talk show. Jack, a Dom, instantly recognizes the unrealized submissive lurking within Morgan, and determines to make her realize her every fantasy - with him, destroying her engagement to his long-time enemy in the process. When Morgan is attacked, Jack promptly appoints himself her bodyguard, determining to protect her and have his revenge all at once.
As Jack and Morgan open up to each other, they begin to fall in love. But will their needs prove more dangerous to their love than the stalker?
With the first excerpt I read for Shayla Black's novel, Wicked Ties, I was hooked. Although not typically into BDSM plots, the excerpts Shayla Black has posted on her website and blog stirred an interest in me that was undeniable. I was therefore understandably excited at the opportunity to review Wicked Ties. The book did NOT disappoint - in any way.
As I mentioned, this book has a heavy BDSM theme, although it never seems `in your face' hard core BDSM like some other novels. Make no mistake, Jack Cole is as dominant as Morgan O'Malley is submissive, but the author's approach to these scenes makes BDSM palatable to most readers. While the love scenes are explicit and plentiful, the scenes never include acts of degradation. Indeed, although Jack is confused concerning his conflicting feels over Morgan, we never doubt that every thing he asks of her is geared towards making her happy and fulfilled. Even though he had intended to use her for revenge, Jack can not help his desire to help Morgan with her struggle to reconcile the desires she has viewed as depraved.
I said before the love scenes are plentiful, and it is no exaggeration. If you are looking for a steamy read with a great plot, this is a must read! Shayla Black proves herself as one of those authors who adeptly sneaks a very complete plot in the middle of her love scenes. The stalker plot provides plenty of suspense and of course, a nice twist as to the identity of the stalker.
Casting Jack in the role of bodyguard with a madman terrorizing Morgan is the perfect way to showcase his ultimate concern for her well-being and safety while simultaneously leading her into his world of BDSM.

I thought it was really interesting. learn something new every day...that's for sure! LOL The ups and downs were enough to keep you guessing. I really love it when a book can intrigue you enough to make you try to figure out who the bad guy is as you read. I mean, as avid readers of course we know that 98% of the time the couple in the main focus of the plot, get together at the end. However, it's the journey to that end that makes it even better. I have to say this was the first I've read of Shayla's, and I'm hooked! For sure an author I'll be following in the future!
The pros? The bedroom scenes were very hot, but the whole book was waaaaaay too wordy, to the point of being ridiculous. All the scenes were so drawn out, I had to skim to keep the story moving... it's just so heavy on the heroine's inner thoughts you want to tell her to shut up already, and get on with it. I wasn't too fond of the hero in this one. The audio narrator has a child's voice, which didn't seem to fit. Anyways, if it were edited down by fifty percent I could possibly recommend this. But as it stands...
