I really wanted to like this book, but more then anything it made me pretty uncomfortable. Morgan had thoughts of submission, but instead of helping her find out what she really wanted out of a sexual relationship Jack wouldn't take no for and answer and kept forcing himself on her. That doesn't seem like a very safe environment to learn about D/S relationships. After forcing her submission Jack kept leaving her and at one point he even left her tied up and helpless. To me this wasn't sexy at all, it was abusive and scary.

How can a book with so much sex be this...? well I have no words but I have to say connecting with the characters was hard...is hard.

I read the whole book in a day. I liked it, the only reason its not getting 5 stars is because some chapters in the book was boring. Took a lot of energi to finish the chapter. Otherwise I recommend the book. :D

Wicked Ties kicks off with an extremely quick introduction to our protagonists, sub Morgan, a sex show TV host who has spent all of her life repressing her more adventurous sexual desires, and dom Jack "Master J," former military now bodyguard who is to be interviewed for said sex show, as well as a quick introduction to a semblance of a plotline.

I get that some readers require a side of plot to go with their smut and while I can take it or leave, I am absolutely not a fan of Wicked Ties' stalker subplot. I read/watch/listen to a lot of true crime and all too often, the majority of cases involve some form of violence against women perpetrated by men so I really do prefer my smut to be completely devoid of it.

As for this particular plot, I feel it's simultaneously trying too hard and not trying hard enough. Morgan has BDSM fantasies. Morgan hasn't accepted she's into BDSM. Morgan is extremely attracted to Jack. Morgan has a stalker. Jack has a heart of gold and insists on working as Morgan's bodyguard. Jack also enjoy BDSM. Jack is extremely attracted to Morgan. Morgan wants to keeps her relationship with Jack professional. Jack wants to have sex with Morgan to get revenge on some guy (This is not a spoiler because it's practically the first sentence of Jack's first POV, which I think is Chapter 2. (view spoiler))

Wicked Ties does its job as erotica well, except for when it doesn't. Uunfortunately, Shayla Black insists that Morgan stick to that whole Keep-Shit-Professional-With-Jack thing I mentioned earlier despite the fact that she very badly wants to have sex with Jack and so she's not consenting to any of the sex during the first half of the book. I mean, yes, because we're in Morgan's head we know why she's hesitant and why she doesn't initially consent and why she does eventually consent. But Jack doesn't. He just keeps saying rapey shit like how she's fighting her submissive nature and how he knows she wants him to dominate her until he "convinces her."

That's not D/s play, Jack; it's rape.

While the second half of the book isn't like that, it's a such a damn disappointment that not all sex in the book is consensual because its an enjoyable read when everybody involves is really into it.

Wicked Ties has more heat than the fire from an erupting volcano. This erotic tale of Jack Cole, ex-Special Forces soldier and experienced dom, and Morgan O’Malley, TV show host who denies her submissive nature, brings new meaning to the word SEXY. As Jack encourages Morgan to embrace her fantasies, he pushes her to submit in ways that will probably make you want Jack to say “Good girl” to you too. With dominant/submissive dynamics, bondage and a ménage, be ready for some explicit (heart stopping) scenes, some (eye-fluttering) dirty talk and (faint-worthy) creative ways to pleasure your partner.

Wicked Ties is a lush, provocative and enticing story that is a must-have for every erotica library.

So the story of TV presenter Morgan and ex-military bodyguard Jack. Morgan has a stalker who Jack saves her from during an interview about BDSM. Jack gets Morgan to disguise herself as a stripper (great unassuming disguise there) and the two go into hiding where they basically have sex constantly whilst worrying about the stalker occasionally. Great.

I liked Morgan, she seemed like a pretty strong character. Her wayward inner dialogue about BDSM being perverse, whilst secretly loving it got a bit tiring after a while, but I get that part of the story was about her accepting her desires and Jack breaking down her barriers. Jack was a nice guy with a dirty mouth who didn’t come across as an arsehole which some dominants can. You have to be comfortable with the fact that he thinks Morgan has a fiancé yet is still happy to seduce her. But we seem to let that slide.

But Deke, the more easygoing side character was my favourite.

I think if you are in the mood for some erotica with a storyline (most are too busy doing sexy things to bother with too much plot) then this is great. It’s hot with a lot of sex. I would say the BDSM aspects were middling.

I enjoyed this book and will read more by this author.

So crude!! There isn't really a storyline. More of a long sex scene. The characters, especially Morgan, are extremely annoying. Both of their thoughts are extremely repetive as well as their conversations. They will individually think through their thoughts, come to a conclusion, and then start the thought process all over again. Same with the conversations. It was so difficult to keep reading and finish this book, but because I have a goal of so many books to read this year, I forced myself. I personally do not recommend it. I only read it because someone told me that if I enjoyed Fifty Shades, then I would enjoy this book. Not true. I totally loved Fifty Shades. Could not stand this book. It does get better in the second half and actually semi-held my attention, but the first half is what brings it to three stars for me.

Took this out of the discard box at the bookstore because of curiosity and never having read the author thought I'd check her out. I truly expected not to like it but boy oh boy was I in for a surprise... I loved everything about this book. This is very well written erotica with a very likeable story and characters. I'll certainly be hunting down the next one in this series. Steamy, steamy stuff that will put you to the blush... so steamy in parts I thought I was going to have to go find my fan!
